Howbeit Jehovah would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a lamp to him and to his children alway.

Howbeit the LORDª wouldª° not¹ destroyª°¹ the houseª of David,ª because of¹ the covenantª that¹ he had madeª° with David,ª and as¹ he promisedª° to giveª° a lightª to him and to his sonsª for ever.ª¹

nevertheless the Lord would not utterly destroy the house of David, because of the covenant which he made with David, and as he said to him that he would give a light to him and his sons for ever.
