But it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they turned back, and dealt more corruptly than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their doings, nor from their stubborn way.

And it came to pass,¹ when the judgeª° was dead,²¹ [that] they returned,ª° and corruptedª° [themselves] more than their fathers,ª¹ in followingª²°¹ otherª godsª to serveª° them, and to bow downª° unto them; they ceasedª° not¹ from their own doings,ª¹ nor from their stubborn² way.ª¹¹

And it came to pass when the judge died, that they went back, and again corrupted [themselves] worse than their fathers to go after other gods to serve them an to worship them: they abandoned not their devices nor their stubborn ways.
