and if we have not [rather] out of carefulness done this, [and] of purpose, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with Jehovah, the God of Israel?

And if¹ we have not¹ [rather] doneª°¹ it¹ for fearª¹ of [this] thing,ª¹ saying,ª° In time to comeª your childrenª might speakª° unto our children,ª saying,ª° What¹ have ye to do with the LORDª Godª of Israel?ª

And if¹ we haue not¹ rather doneª°¹ it¹ for feareª¹ of this thing,ª¹ saying,ª° In time to comeª your childrenª might speakeª° vnto our children,ª saying,ª° What¹ haue you to doe with the LORDª Godª of Israel?ª

But we have done this for the sake of precaution [concerning this] thing, saying, Lest hereafter your sons should say to our sons, What have ye to do with the Lord God of Israel?
