And it came to pass, while Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard of it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:

And it came to pass,¹ when Israelª dweltª° in that¹ land,ª that Reubenª went²°¹ and lay²° with¹¹ Bilhahª his father'sª concubine:ª and Israelª heardª° [it]. Now the sonsª of Jacobª were¹ twelve:ªª

And it came to pass when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben{gr.Ruben} went and lay with Bilhah{gr.Balla}, the concubine of his father Jacob; and Israel heard, and the thing appeared grievous before him. And the sons of Jacob were twelve.

And it came to pass,¹ when Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלª dweltª° in that¹ land,ª that Ræ´ûvën רְאוּבֵןª went²°¹ and lay²° with¹¹ Bilhà בִּלהָהª his father'sª concubine:ª and Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלª heardª° [it]. Now the sonsª of Ya`áköv יַעֲקֹבª were¹ twelve:ªª
