1 Zion bewaileth her pitiful estate. 13 She confesseth her sins. 21 Edom is threatened. 22 Zion is comforted.

 4:1 How 351a dark 6004 the gold 2091 has become 6004, [How] the pure 2896a gold 3800 has changed 8132! The sacred 6944 stones 68 are poured 8210 out At the corner 7218 of every 3605 street 2351.

 4:2 The precious 3368 sons 1121 of Zion 6726, Weighed 5537 against fine 6337 gold 6337, How 351a they are regarded 2803 as earthen 2789 jars 5035a, The work 4639 of a potter’s 3335 hands 3027!

 4:3 Even 1571 jackals 8565 offer 2502a the breast 7699a, They nurse 3243 their young 1482; [But] the daughter 1323 of my people 5971a has become cruel 393 Like ostriches 3283 in the wilderness 4057b.

 4:4 The tongue 3956 of the infant 3243 cleaves 1692 To the roof 2441 of its mouth 2441 because of thirst 6772; The little 5768 ones 5768 ask 7592 for bread 3899, [But] no 369 one 369 breaks 6536 [it] for them.

 4:5 Those who ate 398 delicacies 4574 Are desolate 8074 in the streets 2351; Those reared 539 in purple 8438 Embrace 2263 ash 830 pits 830.

 4:6 For the iniquity 5771 of the daughter 1323 of my people 5971a Is greater 1431 than 4480 the sin 2403b of Sodom 5467, Which was overthrown 2015 as in a moment 7281, And no 3808 hands 3027 were turned 2342a toward her.

 4:7 Her consecrated 5139 ones 5139 were purer 2141 than 4480 snow 7950, They were whiter 6705 than 4480 milk 2461; They were more 4480 ruddy 119 [in] body 6106 than 4480 corals 6443, Their polishing 1508 [was like] lapis 5601 lazuli 5601.

 4:8 Their appearance 8389 is blacker 2821 than 4480 soot 7815, They are not recognized 5234 in the streets 2351; Their skin 5785 is shriveled 6821 on their bones 6106, It is withered 3001, it has become 1961 like wood 6086.

 4:9 Better 2896a are those slain 2491a with the sword 2719 Than 4480 those slain 2491a with hunger 7458; For they pine 2100 away 2100, being stricken 1856 For lack of the fruits 8570 of the field 7706a.

 4:10 The hands 3027 of compassionate 7362 women 802 Boiled 1310 their own children 3206; They became 1961 food 1262 for them Because of the destruction 7667 of the daughter 1323 of my people 5971a.

 4:11 The LORD 3068 has accomplished 3615 His wrath 2534, He has poured 8210 out His fierce 2740 anger 639; And He has kindled 3341 a fire 784 in Zion 6726 Which has consumed 398 its foundations 3247.

 4:12 The kings 4428 of the earth 776 did not believe 539, Nor 3808 [did] any 3605 of the inhabitants 3427 of the world 8398, That the adversary 6862c and the enemy 340 Could enter 935 the gates 8179 of Jerusalem 3389.

 4:13 Because 4480 of the sins 2403b of her prophets 5030 [And] the iniquities 5771 of her priests 3548, Who have shed 8210 in her midst 7130 The blood 1818 of the righteous 6662;

 4:14 They wandered 5128, blind 5787, in the streets 2351; They were defiled 1351 with blood 1818 So that no 3808 one could 3201 touch 5060 their garments 3830.

 4:15 “Depart 5493! Unclean 2931!” they cried 7121 of themselves. “Depart 5493, depart 5493, do not touch 5060!” So 3588 they fled 5327a and wandered 5128; [Men] among the nations 1471 said 559, “They shall not continue 3254 to dwell 1481a [with us].”

 4:16 The presence 6440 of the LORD 3068 has scattered 2505a them, He will not continue 3254 to regard 5027 them; They did not honor 5375 6440 the priests 3548, They did not favor 2603a the elders 2205.

 4:17 Yet 5750 our eyes 5869 failed 3615, [Looking] for help 5833 was useless 1892; In our watching 6836 we have watched 6822 For a nation 1471 that could not save 3467.

 4:18 They hunted 6679 our steps 6806 So 4480 that we could not walk 1980 in our streets 7339; Our end 7093 drew 7126 near 7126, Our days 3117 were finished 4390 For our end 7093 had come 935.

 4:19 Our pursuers 7291 were swifter 7031 Than 4480 the eagles 5404 of the sky 8064; They chased 1814 us on the mountains 2022, They waited 693 in ambush 693 for us in the wilderness 4057b.

 4:20 The breath 7307 of our nostrils 639, the LORD’S 3068 anointed 4899, Was captured 3920 in their pits 7825, Of whom 834 we had said 559, “Under his shadow 6738 We shall live 2421a among the nations 1471.”

 4:21 Rejoice 7797 and be glad 8055, O daughter 1323 of Edom 112b, Who dwells 3427 in the land 776 of Uz 5780; [But] the cup 3563a will come 5674a around 5674a to you as well 1571, You will become 7937 drunk 7937 and make 6168 yourself naked 6168.

 4:22 [The punishment] of your iniquity 5771 has been 8552 completed 8552, O daughter 1323 of Zion 6726; He will exile 1540 you no 3808 longer 3254. [But] He will punish 6485 your iniquity 5771, O daughter 1323 of Edom 112b; He will expose 1540 your sins 2403b!
