Joel 2

1 He sheweth unto Zion the terribleness of God's judgment. 1 He exhorteth to repentance, 15 prescribeth a fast, 18 promiseth a blessing thereon. 21 He comforteth Zion with present, 28 and future blessings.

 2:1 Blow 8628 a trumpet 7782 in Zion 6726, And sound 7321 an alarm 7321 on My holy 6944 mountain 2022! Let all 3605 the inhabitants 3427 of the land 776 tremble 7264, For the day 3117 of the LORD 3068 is coming 935; Surely 3588 it is near 7138,

 2:2 A day 3117 of darkness 2822 and gloom 653, A day 3117 of clouds 6051 and thick 6205 darkness 6205. As the dawn 7837 is spread 6566 over 5921 the mountains 2022, [So] there is a great 7227a and mighty 6099 people 5971a; There has never 3808 4480 5769 been 1961 [anything] like 3644 it, Nor 3808 will there be again 3254 after 310 it To the years 8141 of many 1755 generations 1755.

 2:3 A fire 784 consumes 398 before 6440 them And behind 310 them a flame 3852 burns 3857. The land 776 is like the garden 1588 of Eden 5731 before 6440 them But a desolate 8077 wilderness 4057b behind 310 them, And nothing 3808 at all 1571 escapes 6413 them.

 2:4 Their appearance 4758 is like the appearance 4758 of horses 5483b; And like war horses 6571a, so 3651 they run 7323.

 2:5 With a noise 6963 as of chariots 4818 They leap 7540 on the tops 7218 of the mountains 2022, Like the crackling 6963 of a flame 3851 of fire 784 consuming 398 the stubble 7179, Like a mighty 6099 people 5971a arranged 6186a for battle 4421.

 2:6 Before 4480 6440 them the people 5971a are in anguish 2342a; All 3605 faces 6440 turn 6908 pale 6289.

 2:7 They run 7323 like mighty 1368 men 1368, They climb 5927 the wall 2346 like soldiers 582 4421; And they each 376 march 1980 in line 1870, Nor 3808 do they deviate 5670 from their paths 734.

 2:8 They do not crowd 1766 each 376 other 251, They march 1980 everyone 1397 in his path 4546; When they burst 5307 through 1157 the defenses 7973, They do not break 1214 ranks 1214.

 2:9 They rush 8264 on the city 5892b, They run 7323 on the wall 2346; They climb 5927 into the houses 1004, They enter 935 through 1157 the windows 2474 like a thief 1590.

 2:10 Before 6440 them the earth 776 quakes 7264, The heavens 8064 tremble 7493, The sun 8121 and the moon 3394 grow 6937 dark 6937 And the stars 3556 lose 622 their brightness 5051.

 2:11 The LORD 3068 utters 5414 His voice 6963 before 6440 His army 2428; Surely 3588 His camp 4264 is very 3966 great 7227a, For strong 6099 is he who carries 6213a out His word 1697. The day 3117 of the LORD 3068 is indeed 3588 great 1419 and very 3966 awesome 3372a, And who can endure 3557 it?

 2:12 “Yet even 1571 now 6258,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068, “Return 7725 to Me with all 3605 your heart 3824, And with fasting 6685, weeping 1065 and mourning 4553;

 2:13 And rend 7167 your heart 3824 and not your garments 899b.” Now return 7725 to the LORD 3068 your God 430, For He is gracious 2587 and compassionate 7349, Slow 750 to anger 639, abounding 7227a in lovingkindness 2617a And relenting 5162 of evil 7463a.

 2:14 Who 4310 knows 3045 whether He will [not] turn 7725 and relent 5162 And leave 7604 a blessing 1293 behind 310 Him, [Even] a grain offering 4503 and a drink 5262a offering 5262a For the LORD 3068 your God 430?

 2:15 Blow 8628 a trumpet 7782 in Zion 6726, Consecrate 6942 a fast 6685, proclaim 7121 a solemn 6116 assembly 6116,

 2:16 Gather 622 the people 5971a, sanctify 6942 the congregation 6951, Assemble 6908 the elders 2205, Gather 622 the children 5768 and the nursing 3243 7699a infants 3243 7699a. Let the bridegroom 2860a come 3318 out of his room 2315 And the bride 3618 out of her [bridal] chamber 2646.

 2:17 Let the priests 3548, the LORD’S 3068 ministers 8334, Weep 1058 between 996 the porch 197 and the altar 4196, And let them say 559, “Spare 2347 Your people 5971a, O LORD 3068, And do not make 5414 Your inheritance 5159 a reproach 2781, A byword 4912 among the nations 1471. Why 4100 should they among the peoples 5971a say 559, ‘Where 346 is their God 430?’”

 2:18 ¶ Then the LORD 3068 will be zealous 7065 for His land 776 And will have 2550 pity 2550 on His people 5971a.

 2:19 The LORD 3068 will answer 6030a and say 559 to His people 5971a, “Behold 2009, I am going to send 7971 you grain 1715, new 8492 wine 8492 and oil 3323, And you will be satisfied 7646 [in full] with them; And I will never 3808 again 5750 make 5414 you a reproach 2781 among the nations 1471.

 2:20 “But I will remove 7368 the northern 6830 [army] far 7368 from you, And I will drive 5080 it into a parched 6723 and desolate 8077 land 776, And its vanguard 6440 into the eastern 6931 sea 3220, And its rear 5490 guard into the western 314 sea 3220. And its stench 889 will arise 5927 and its foul 6709 smell 6709 will come 5927 up, For it has done 6213a great 1431 things 1431.”

 2:21 ¶ Do not fear 3372a, O land 127, rejoice 1523 and be glad 8055, For the LORD 3068 has done 6213a great 1431 things 1431.

 2:22 Do not fear 3372a, beasts 929 of the field 7706a, For the pastures 4999 of the wilderness 4057b have turned 1876 green 1876, For the tree 6086 has borne 5375 its fruit 6529, The fig 8384 tree 8384 and the vine 1612 have yielded 5414 in full 2428.

 2:23 So rejoice 1523, O sons 1121 of Zion 6726, And be glad 8055 in the LORD 3068 your God 430; For He has given 5414 you the early 4175a rain 4175a for [your] vindication 6666. And He has poured 3381 down 3381 for you the rain 1653, The early 4175a and latter 4456 rain 4456 as before 7223.

 2:24 The threshing 1637 floors 1637 will be full 4390 of grain 1250, And the vats 3342 will overflow 7783 with the new 8492 wine 8492 and oil 3323.

 2:25 “Then I will make 7999a up to you for the years 8141 That the swarming 697 locust 697 has eaten 398, The creeping 3218 locust 3218, the stripping 2625 locust 2625 and the gnawing 1501 locust 1501, My great 1419 army 2428 which 834 I sent 7971 among you.

 2:26 “You will have plenty 398 to eat 398 and be satisfied 7646 And praise 1984b the name 8034 of the LORD 3068 your God 430, Who 834 has dealt 6213a wondrously 6381 with you; Then My people 5971a will never 3808 5769 be put 954 to shame 954.

 2:27 “Thus you will know 3045 that I am in the midst 7130 of Israel 3478, And that I am the LORD 3068 your God 430, And there 369 is no 369 other 5750; And My people 5971a will never 3808 5769 be put 954 to shame 954.

 2:28 ¶ “It will come 1961 about after 310 this 3651 That I will pour 8210 out My Spirit 7307 on all 3605 mankind 1320; And your sons 1121 and daughters 1323 will prophesy 5012, Your old 2205 men 2205 will dream 2492b dreams 2472, Your young 970 men 970 will see 7200 visions 2384.

 2:29 “Even 1571 on the male 5650 and female 8198 servants 5650 8198 I will pour 8210 out My Spirit 7307 in those 1992a days 3117.

 2:30 “I will display 5414 wonders 4159 in the sky 8064 and on the earth 776, Blood 1818, fire 784 and columns 8490 of smoke 6227.

 2:31 “The sun 8121 will be turned 2015 into darkness 2822 And the moon 3394 into blood 1818 Before 6440 the great 1419 and awesome 3372a day 3117 of the LORD 3068 comes 935.

 2:32 “And it will come 1961 about that whoever 3605 834 calls 7121 on the name 8034 of the LORD 3068 Will be delivered 4422; For on Mount 2022 Zion 6726 and in Jerusalem 3389 There will be those who escape 6413, As the LORD 3068 has said 559, Even among the survivors 8300 whom 834 the LORD 3068 calls 7121.
