2:1 ¶
And Jonah{gr.Jonas} prayed to the Lord his God out of the belly of the whale, |
|
2:1 ¶
Then Jonah°
prayed°°
unto°
Yahweh°
his Elohim°
out of the fish's°
belly,°° |
2:2
and said, I cried in my affliction to the Lord my God, and he hearkened to me, [even] to my cry out of the belly of hell: thou heardest my voice. |
|
2:2
And said,°°
I cried°°
by reason of mine affliction°°
unto°
Yahweh,°
and he heard°°
me; out of the belly°°
of hell°
cried°°
I, [and] thou heardest°°
my voice.° |
2:3
Thou didst cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea, and the floods compassed me: all thy billows and thy waves have passed upon me. |
|
2:3
For thou hadst cast°°
me into the deep,°
in the midst°
of the seas;°
and the floods°
compassed°°
me about:°
all°
thy billows°
and thy waves°
passed°
over°°°
me. |
2:4
And I said, I am cast out of thy presence: shall I indeed look again toward thy holy temple? |
|
2:4
Then I°
said,°°
I am cast out°°
of°°
thy sight;°
yet°
I will look°°
again°°
toward°
thy holy°
temple.° |
2:5
Water was poured around me to the soul: the lowest deep compassed me, my head went down |
|
2:5
The waters°
compassed me about,°°
[even] to°
the soul:°
the depth°
closed me round about,°°
the weeds°
were wrapped°
about°°
my head.° |
2:6
to the clefts of the mountains; I went down into the earth, whose bars are the everlasting barriers: yet, O Lord my God, let my ruined life be restored. |
|
2:6
I went down°°
to the bottoms°
of the mountains;°
the earth°
with her bars°
[was] about°
me for ever:°
yet hast thou brought up°°
my life°
from corruption,°°
O Yahweh°
my Elohim.° |
2:7
When my soul was failing me, I remembered the Lord; and may my prayer come to thee into thy holy temple. |
|
2:7
When my soul°
fainted°°
within°
me I remembered°°°
Yahweh:°
and my prayer°
came in°°
unto°
thee, into°
thine holy°
temple.° |
2:8
They that observe vanities and lies have forsaken their own mercy. |
|
2:8
They that observe°°
lying°
vanities°
forsake°°
their own mercy.° |
2:9
But I will sacrifice to thee with the voice of praise and thanksgiving: all that I have vowed I will pay to thee, the Lord of [my] salvation. |
|
2:9
But I°
will sacrifice°°
unto thee with the voice°
of thanksgiving;°
I will pay°°
[that] that°
I have vowed.°°
Salvation°
[is] of Yahweh.° |
2:10 ¶
And the whale was commanded by the Lord, and it cast up Jonah{gr.Jonas} on the dry [land]. |
|
2:10 ¶
And Yahweh°
spake°°
unto the fish,°
and it vomited out°°°
Jonah°
upon°
the dry°
[land]. |
