2:1 ¶
IF, therefore, you have consolation in the Meshiha, and if there be comfort in love, and if communion of the Spirit, and if compassions and mercies, |
|
2:1
If, therefore, ye have consolation in the Messiah, or if a commingling of hearts in love, or if a fellowship of the Spirit, or if compassions and sympathies; |
2:2
complete my gladness by having one sentiment and one love, and one soul and one mind. |
|
2:2
complete ye my joy, by having one apprehension, and one love, and one soul, and one mind. |
2:3
And do nothing in contention or vainglorying, but in meekness of mind let a man consider his neighbour as better than himself. |
|
2:3
And do nothing in strife, or in vain glory; but, with lowliness of mind, let each esteem his neighbor as better than himself. |
2:4
And let no one care for himself (only), but every one for his neighbour also. |
|
2:4
And let not each be solicitous [only] for himself, but every one also for his neighbor. |
2:5
And feel this in yourselves, which Jeshu the Meshiha (did) also: |
|
2:5
And think ye so in yourselves, as Jesus the Messiah also thought; |
2:6
who, when he was in the form of Aloha, considered this not to be robbery, (this, namely,) that he was the co-equal of Aloha: |
|
2:6
who, as he was in the likeness of God, deemed it no trespass to be the coequal of God; |
2:7
yet emptied he himself, and took the form of a servant, and was made in the form of men; and in fashion was found as a man, |
|
2:7
yet divested himself, and assumed the likeness of a servant, and was in the likeness of men, and was found in fashion as a man; |
2:8
and humbled himself, and was obedient unto death, but the death of the cross. |
|
2:8
and he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. |
2:9
Wherefore also Aloha greatly exalted him, and gave him a name that is more excellent than all names, |
|
2:9
Wherefore, also, God hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is more excellent than all names; |
2:10
that at the name of Jeshu every knee should kneel, of those in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth; |
|
2:10
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [beings] in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth; |
2:11
and that every tongue should confess that Jeshu the Meshiha is the Lord, to the glory of Aloha his Father. |
|
2:11
and that every tongue should confess that Jesus the Messiah is the Lord, to the glory of God his Father. |
2:12 ¶
WHEREFORE, my beloved, as you have all time obeyed, not while I am near you only, but now that I am far from you, the more with fear and trembling work the work of your salvation; |
|
2:12
Therefore, my beloved, as ye have at all times obeyed, not only when I was near to you, but now when I am far from you, prosecute the work of your life, more abundantly, with fear and with trembling. |
2:13
for Aloha himself effectuates in you also to will, also to do, the thing which you will. |
|
2:13
For God is operating in you, both to purpose, and also to perform that which ye desire. |
2:14
Do every thing without murmuring and without division; |
|
2:14
Do all things without murmuring, and without altercation; |
2:15
that you may be perfect and without spot, as the pure children of Aloha, who dwell in a generation depraved and perverse; and be manifest among them as luminaries in the world, |
|
2:15
that ye may be perfect and without blemish, as the sincere children of God, who are resident in a perverse and crooked generation; and that ye may appear among them as luminaries in the world; |
2:16
to be unto them for a place of salvation, for my exultation in the day of the Meshiha, that I may not have run in vain, nor laboured to no purpose. |
|
2:16
so that ye may be to them in place of life; for my glory in the day of the Messiah, that I may not have run in vain or toiled for naught. |
2:17
But, also, [if I should be] offered on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad, and rejoice with you all; |
|
2:17
And if I should be made a libation upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and exult with you all. |
2:18
so also you be glad and rejoice with me. |
|
2:18
And so also do ye rejoice and exult with me. |
2:19
But I hope in our Lord Jeshu to send Timotheos to you soon, that I also may have quietness when I learn concerning you. |
|
2:19
But I hope in our Lord Jesus, that I shall shortly send Timothy unto you, so that I also may have composure, when informed concerning you. |
2:20
For I have no other who is so as my (own) soul, who will diligently take care for yours. |
|
2:20
For I have no other one here, who, like my self, will sincerely care for your welfare. |
2:21
For all are seeking what is theirs, and not what is of Jeshu Meshiha. |
|
2:21
For they all seek their own, not the [things] of Jesus the Messiah. |
2:22
But the proof of this [evangelist] you know, that as a son with his father, so hath he wrought with me in the gospel. |
|
2:22
But ye know the proof of him, that as a son with his father, so he labored with me in the gospel. |
2:23
Him, therefore, I hope to send to you speedily, when I shall have seen what [will be done] with me. |
|
2:23
Him I hope shortly to send to you, when I shall have seen how [things result] with me. |
2:24
And I confide on my Lord, that I also speedily shall come unto you. |
|
2:24
And I trust in my Lord, that I shall shortly come myself to you. |
2:25
But now the matter hath pressed me to send to you the brother Epaphroditos, who is a helper and labourer with me, but your messenger and minister to my necessity; |
|
2:25
But now, a circumstance urged me to send to you Epaphroditus, the brother who is an assistant and laborer with me, but is your legate and minister to my wants. |
2:26
for he desired to see you all, and was anxious, because he knew that you had heard that he was sick. |
|
2:26
For he longed to see you all, and was anxious, because he knew ye had heard, that he was sick. |
2:27
Yes, he was sick, unto death; but Aloha had mercy upon him; but not upon him only, but upon me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. |
|
2:27
And indeed he was sick, nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him: nor was it on him only, but also on me, that I might not have trouble upon trouble. |
2:28
Urgently, therefore, have I sent him to you, that when you have seen him again you may rejoice, and that I may have a little breathing. |
|
2:28
Promptly, therefore, have I sent him to you; so that when ye see him, ye may again be joyful, and I may have a little breathing. |
2:29
Receive him, then, in the Lord with all joy; and those who are such, hold in estimation: |
|
2:29
Receive him then in the Lord, with all joy; and hold in honor those who are such. |
2:30
because for the work of the Meshiha he had come nigh unto death, and was disregardful of his life, that he might accomplish that which you had wanted in the service which concerned me. |
|
2:30
For, because of the Messiah's work, he came near to death, and little regarded his life, that he might fulfill what you lacked in the ministration to me. |
