 15:1 ¶ And [David] made him houses in the city of David; and he prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.

 15:1 ¶ And [David] madeºº him housesº in the cityº of David,º and preparedºº a placeº for the arkº of God,º and pitchedºº for it a tent.º

 15:2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath Jehovah chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.

 15:2 Thenº Davidº said,ºº Noneº ought to carryººº the arkº of Godº butºº the Levites:º forº them hath the LORDº chosenºº to carryººº the arkº of God,º and to ministerºº unto him forº ever.ºº

 15:3 And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of Jehovah unto its place, which he had prepared for it.

 15:3 And Davidº gatheredººº allº Israelº togetherºº toº Jerusalem,º to bring upººº the arkº of the LORDº untoº his place,º whichº he had preparedºº for it.

 15:4 And David gathered together the sons of Aaron, and the Levites:

 15:4 And Davidº assembledººº the childrenº of Aaron,º and the Levites:º

 15:5 of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brethren a hundred and twenty;

 15:5 Of the sonsº of Kohath;º Urielº the chief,º and his brethrenº an hundredº and twenty:º

 15:6 of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty;

 15:6 Of the sonsº of Merari;º Asaiahº the chief,º and his brethrenº two hundredº and twenty:º

 15:7 of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and his brethren a hundred and thirty;

 15:7 Of the sonsº of Gershom;ºº Joelº the chief,º and his brethrenº an hundredº and thirty:º

 15:8 of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred;

 15:8 Of the sonsº of Elizaphan;º Shemaiahº the chief,º and his brethrenº two hundred:º

 15:9 of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and his brethren fourscore;

 15:9 Of the sonsº of Hebron;º Elielº the chief,º and his brethrenº fourscore:º

 15:10 of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and his brethren a hundred and twelve.

 15:10 Of the sonsº of Uzziel;º Amminadabº the chief,º and his brethrenº an hundredº and twelve.ºº

 15:11 And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,

 15:11 And Davidº calledºº for Zadokº and Abiatharº the priests,º and for the Levites,º for Uriel,º Asaiah,º and Joel,º Shemaiah,º and Eliel,º and Amminadab,º

 15:12 and said unto them, Ye are the heads of the fathers' [houses] of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of Jehovah, the God of Israel, unto [the place] that I have prepared for it.

 15:12 And saidºº unto them, Yeº [are] the chiefº of the fathersº of the Levites:º sanctifyºº yourselves,º [both] yeº and your brethren,º that ye may bring upººº the arkº of the LORDº Godº of Israelº untoº [the place that] I have preparedºº for it.

 15:13 For because ye [bare it] not at the first, Jehovah our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not according to the ordinance.

 15:13 For becauseº yeº [did it] notº at the first,ºº the LORDº our Godº made a breachºº upon us, forº that we soughtºº him notº after the due order.º

 15:14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of Jehovah, the God of Israel.

 15:14 So the priestsº and the Levitesº sanctifiedºº themselvesº to bring upººº the arkº of the LORDº Godº of Israel.º

 15:15 And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of Jehovah.

 15:15 And the childrenº of the Levitesº bareººº the arkº of Godº upon their shouldersº with the stavesº thereon,º asº Mosesº commandedºº according to the wordº of the LORD.º

 15:16 And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren the singers, with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up the voice with joy.

 15:16 And Davidº spakeºº to the chiefº of the Levitesº to appointººº their brethrenº [to be] the singersºº with instrumentsº of musick,º psalteriesº and harpsº and cymbals,º sounding,ºº by lifting upºº the voiceº with joy.º

 15:17 So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

 15:17 So the Levitesº appointedººº Hemanº the sonº of Joel;º and ofº his brethren,º Asaphº the sonº of Berechiah;º and ofº the sonsº of Merariº their brethren,º Ethanº the sonº of Kushaiah;º

 15:18 and with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.

 15:18 And withº them their brethrenº of the secondº [degree], Zechariah,º Ben,º and Jaaziel,º and Shemiramoth,º and Jehiel,º and Unni,º Eliab,º and Benaiah,º and Maaseiah,º and Mattithiah,º and Elipheleh,º and Mikneiah,º and Obededom,º and Jeiel,º the porters.º

 15:19 So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, [were appointed] with cymbals of brass to sound aloud;

 15:19 So the singers,ºº Heman,º Asaph,º and Ethan,º [were appointed] to soundºº with cymbalsº of brass;º

 15:20 and Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries set to Alamoth;

 15:20 And Zechariah,º and Aziel,º and Shemiramoth,º and Jehiel,º and Unni,º and Eliab,º and Maaseiah,º and Benaiah,º with psalteriesº onº Alamoth;º

 15:21 and Mattithiah, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps set to the Sheminith, to lead.

 15:21 And Mattithiah,º and Elipheleh,º and Mikneiah,º and Obededom,º and Jeiel,º and Azaziah,º with harpsº onº the Sheminithº to excel.ºº

 15:22 And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the song: he instructed about the song, because he was skilful.

 15:22 And Chenaniah,º chiefº of the Levites,º [was] for song:º he instructedº about the song,º becauseº heº [was] skilful.ºº

 15:23 And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.

 15:23 And Berechiahº and Elkanahº [were] doorkeepersº for the ark.º

 15:24 And Shebaniah, and Joshaphat, and Nethanel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obed-edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

 15:24 And Shebaniah,º and Jehoshaphat,ºº and Nethaneel,º and Amasai,º and Zechariah,º and Benaiah,º and Eliezer,º the priests,º did blowºººº with the trumpetsº beforeº the arkº of God:º and Obededomº and Jehiahº [were] doorkeepersº for the ark.º

 15:25 ¶ So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the house of Obed-edom with joy.

 15:25 ¶ Soº David,º and the eldersº of Israel,º and the captainsº over thousands,º wentºº to bring upººº the arkº of the covenantº of the LORDº out ofº the houseº of Obededomº with joy.º

 15:26 And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, that they sacrificed seven bullocks and seven rams.

 15:26 And it came to pass,º when Godº helpedººº the Levitesº that bareºº the arkº of the covenantº of the LORD,º that they offeredºº sevenº bullocksº and sevenº rams.º

 15:27 And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song [with] the singers: and David had upon him an ephod of linen.

 15:27 And Davidº [was] clothedºº with a robeº of fine linen,º and allº the Levitesº that bareººº the ark,º and the singers,ºº and Chenaniahº the masterº of the songº with the singers:ºº Davidº also [had] upon him an ephodº of linen.º

 15:28 Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with psalteries and harps.

 15:28 Thus allº Israelº brought upººº the arkº of the covenantº of the LORDº with shouting,º and with soundº of the cornet,º and with trumpets,º and with cymbals,º making a noiseºº with psalteriesº and harps.º

 15:29 ¶ And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of Jehovah came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.

 15:29 ¶ And it came to pass,º [as] the arkº of the covenantº of the LORDº cameºº toº the cityº of David,º that Michalº the daughterº of Saulº looking outºº atº a windowº sawººº kingº Davidº dancingºº and playing:ºº and she despisedºº him in her heart.º
