Beloved, no new commandment write I unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning: the old commandment is the word which ye heard.

Brethren,ª I writeª° noª newª commandmentª unto you,ª butª an oldª commandmentª whichª ye hadª° fromª the beginning.ª The¹ oldª commandmentª isª° the¹ wordª whichª ye have heardª° fromª the beginning.ª

MY beloved, a new commandment I write not to you, but the old commandment, that which was with you from the beginning; but the old commandment is the word which you have heard.

Ἀγαπητοί, οὐκ ἐντολὴν καινὴν γράφω ὑμῖν, ἀλλ' ἐντολὴν παλαιὰν ἣν εἴχετε ἀπ' ἀρχῆς: ἡ ἐντολὴ ἡ παλαιά ἐστιν ὁ λόγος ὃν ἠκούσατε.
