For verily, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we are to suffer affliction; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

Forª verily,ª whenª we wereª° withª you,ª we told²° you² beforeª°¹ thatª we shouldª° suffer tribulation;ª° evenª asª it came to pass,ª° andª ye know.ª°

For while also we were with you, we foretold you that we were to be afflicted, as you know that it hath been.

For also when we were with you, we forewarned you, that we were to be afflicted; as ye know did occur.

καὶ γὰρ ὅτε πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἦμεν, προελέγομεν ὑμῖν ὅτι μέλλομεν θλίβεσθαι, καθὼς καὶ ἐγένετο καὶ οἴδατε.

and therefore which-also toward to-ye we-were, we-were-forthing-before unto-ye to-which-a-one we-impend to-be-pressed, down-as and it-had-became and ye-had-come-to-see.
