But whether we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or whether we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which worketh in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer:

Andª whetherª we be afflicted,ª° [it is] forª yourª consolationª andª salvation,ª which² is effectualª° inª the enduringª of the¹ sameª sufferingsª whichª weª alsoª suffer:ª° or whetherª we be comforted,ª° [it is] forª yourª consolationª andª salvation.ª

Andª whetherª we be afflicted,ª° it is forª yourª consolationª andª saluation,ª which² is effectuallª° inª the enduringª of the¹ sameª sufferings,ª whichª weeª alsoª suffer:ª° or whetherª we be comforted,ª° [it is] forª yourª consolation,ª andª saluation.ª

But if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and for your salvation that we be afflicted: and if we are consoled, it is that you may be consoled, that there may be in you perseverance to endure those sufferings which we also suffer.

And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and for your life that we are afflicted; or whether we be comforted, it is, that ye may be comforted; and that there may be in you an eagerness, wherewith ye may endure those sufferings which we also suffer.

εἴτε δὲ θλιβόμεθα, ὑπὲρ τῆς ὑμῶν παρακλήσεως καὶ σωτηρίας: εἴτε παρακαλούμεθα, ὑπὲρ τῆς ὑμῶν παρακλήσεως τῆς ἐνεργουμένης ἐν ὑπομονῇ τῶν αὐτῶν παθημάτων ὧν καὶ ἡμεῖς πάσχομεν, καὶ ἡ ἐλπὶς ἡμῶν βεβαία ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν:

If-also moreover we-be-pressed, over of-the-one of-ye of-a-calling-beside and of-a-savioring-unto; if-also we-be-called-beside-unto, over of-the-one of-ye of-a-calling-beside of-the-one of-working-in-unto in unto-a-staying-under of-the-ones of-them of-experiencings-to of-which and we we-experience, and the-one an-expectation of-us base-belonged over of-ye;
