For as I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. What therefore ye worship in ignorance, this I set forth unto you.

Forª as I passed by,ª° andª beheldª° yourª devotions,ª² I foundª° an¹ altarª with this²² inscription,ª°¹¹ TO THE UNKNOWNª GOD.ª Whomª thereforeª ye ignorantlyª° worship,ª° himª declare²°¹ Iª unto you.ª

As I walked about and saw the place of your worship, I found a certain altar on which was inscribed, TO GOD THE HIDDEN: him then whom while not known you worship, This I declare to you.

For, as I was rambling about, and viewing the temples of your worship, I met with an altar, on which was inscribed, TO THE HIDDEN GOD. Him, therefore, whom ye worship while ye know him not, the very same I announce to you.

διερχόμενος γὰρ καὶ ἀναθεωρῶν τὰ σεβάσματα ὑμῶν εὗρον καὶ βωμὸν ἐν ᾧ ἐπεγέγραπτο ΑΓΝΩΣΤΩ ΘΕΩ. ὃ οὖν ἀγνοοῦντες εὐσεβεῖτε, τοῦτο ἐγὼ καταγγέλλω ὑμῖν.

coming-through therefore and surveiling-up-unto to-the-ones to-reverings-to of-ye I-had-found and to-a-stepping-of in unto-which it-had-come-to-have-been-scribed-upon, Unto-un-acquaintable unto-a-deity. To-which accordingly un-considering-unto ye-goodly-revere-unto, to-the-one-this I I-message-down to-ye.
