Now this he said not of himself: but, being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation;

Andª thisª spake¹ he²° notª ofª himself:ª butª beingª° high priestª thatª year,ª he prophesiedª° thatª Jesusª shouldª° dieª° for¹ that² nation;ª

But this from himself he spake not, but because he was high priest of that year, he prophesied that Jeshu should die for the people, and not only for (that) people,

This he said, however, not from the promptings of his own mind; but being the high priest of that year, he prophesied, that Jesus was about to die for the people:

Τοῦτο δὲ ἀφ' ἑαυτοῦ οὐκ εἶπεν, ἀλλὰ ἀρχιερεὺς ὢν τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἐκείνου ἐπροφήτευσεν ὅτι ἔμελλεν Ἰησοῦς ἀποθνήσκειν ὑπὲρ τοῦ ἔθνους,
