But he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, and I never transgressed a commandment of thine; and [yet] thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

Andª he¹ answeringª° saidª° to his father,ª Loe,ª° these manyª yeeresª doe I serueª° thee,ª neither²°¹ transgressed¹ I²° at any time²¹ thyª commandement,ª andª yet² thou²° neuer²¹ gauestª° meeª a kid,ª thatª I might make merryª° withª myª friends:ª

But he said to his father, Behold, how many years have I wrought thee service, and never have I transgressed thy commandment: yet never hast thou given me a kid, that I might feast with my friends.

And he said to his father: Lo, these many years have I labored in thy service, and never transgressed thy command; and thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends.

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ Ἰδοὺ τοσαῦτα ἔτη δουλεύω σοι καὶ οὐδέποτε ἐντολήν σου παρῆλθον, καὶ ἐμοὶ οὐδέποτε ἔδωκας ἔριφον ἵνα μετὰ τῶν φίλων μου εὐφρανθῶ:

The-one moreover having-been-separated-off it-had-said unto-the-one unto-a-father of-it, Thou-should-have-had-seen, to-the-one-which-the-ones-these to-years I-bondeeth-of unto-thee and not-moreover-whither-also to-a-finishing-in of-thee I-had-came-beside, and unto-ME not-moreover-whither-also thou-gave to-a-kid so with of-the-ones of-cared of-me I-might-have-been-goodly-centered;
