And Herodias set herself against him, and desired to kill him; and she could not;

Thereforeª Herodiasª had a quarrel²° against¹ him,ª andª wouldª° have killedª° him;ª butª she couldª° not:ª

But Herodia herself was adverse to him, and wished to kill him, but she could not.

ἡ δὲ Ἡρῳδιὰς ἐνεῖχεν αὐτῷ καὶ ἤθελεν αὐτὸν ἀποκτεῖναι, καὶ οὐκ ἠδυνατο:
