When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

Thereforeª whenª thou doestª° [thine] alms,ª do²° notª sound a trumpetª° beforeª thee,ª asª the¹ hypocritesª doª° inª the¹ synagoguesª andª inª the¹ streets,ª thatª they may have gloryª° ofª men.ª Verilyª I sayª° unto you,ª They haveª° their²¹ reward.ª

When, therefore, thou art doing alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as do the assumers of faces in the assemblies and streets, so that they may be praised from men; and, Amen I say to you, they receive their reward.

Therefore, when thou doest alms thou shalt not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get praise from men. Verily I say to you, They have gotten their reward.

Ὅταν οὖν ποιῇς ἐλεημοσύνην, μὴ σαλπίσῃς ἔμπροσθέν σου, ὥσπερ οἱ ὑποκριταὶ ποιοῦσιν ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ ἐν ταῖς ῥύμαις, ὅπως δοξασθῶσιν ὑπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων: ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσιν τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.

Which-also-ever accordingly thou-might-do-unto to-a-compassionateness, lest thou-might-have-trumpeted-to in-toward-from of-thee as-very the-ones separaters-under they-do-unto in unto-the-ones unto-leadings-together and in unto-the-ones unto-tractees, unto-which-whither they-might-have-been-reckoned-to under of-the-ones of-mankinds; amen I-forth unto-ye, they-hold-off to-the-one to-a-pay of-them.
