Wherefore they cried unto Jehovah, and said, We beseech thee, O Jehovah, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood; for thou, O Jehovah, hast done as it pleased thee.

Wherefore they criedª° unto¹ the LORD,ª and said,ª° We beseech thee,²¹ O LORD,ª we beseech thee,¹ let us not¹ perishª° for this¹ man'sª life,ª and layª° not¹ upon¹ us innocentª° blood:ª for¹ thou,¹ O LORD,ª hast doneª° as¹ it pleasedª° thee.

And they cried to the Lord, and said, Forbid it, Lord: let us not perish for the sake of this man's life, and bring not righteous blood upon us: for thou, Lord, hast done as thou wouldest.
