Therefore by this shall the iniquity of Jacob be forgiven, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, [so that] the Asherim and the sun-images shall rise no more.

By thisª therefore¹ shall the iniquityª of Jacobª be purged;ª° and this¹ [is] all¹ the fruitª to take awayª° his sin;ª when he makethª° all¹ the stonesª of the altarª as chalkstonesª¹ that are beaten in sunder,ª° the grovesª and imagesª shall not¹ stand up.ª°

By thisª therefore¹ shall the iniquitieª of Iacobª be purged,ª° and this¹ [is] all¹ the fruit,ª to take awayª° his sinne:ª when he makethª° all¹ the stonesª of the Altarª as chalke stones,ª¹ that are beaten in sunder,ª° the grouesª and imagesª shall not¹ stand vp.ª°

Therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be taken away; and this is his blessing, when I shall have taken away his sin; when they shall have broken to pieces all the stones of the altars as fine dust, and their trees shall not remain, and their idols shall be cut off, as a thicket afar off.
