And Shecaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have married foreign women of the peoples of the land: yet now there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.

And Shechaniahª the sonª of Jehiel,ª [one] of the sonsª¹ of Elam,ª answeredª° and saidª° unto Ezra,ª We¹ have trespassedª° against our God,ª and have takenª° strangeª wivesª of the peopleª¹ of the land:ª yet now¹ there isª hopeª in Israelª concerning¹ this¹ thing.

And Shechaniahª the sonneª of Iehiel,ª [one] of the sonnesª¹ of Elam,ª answeredª° and saidª° vnto Ezra,ª Wee¹ haue trespassedª° against our God,ª and haue takenª° strangeª wiues,ª of the peopleª¹ of the land:ª yet now¹ there isª hopeª in Israelª concerning¹ this¹ thing.

And Shechaniah{gr.Sechenias} the son of Jeel, of the sons of Elam, answered and said to Ezra{gr.Esdras}, We have broken covenant with our God, and have taken strange wives of the nations of the land: yet now there is patience [of hope] to Israel concerning this thing.

And Šæȼanyà שְׁכַניָהª the sonª of Yæ`î´ël יְעִיאֵל,ª [one] of the sonsª¹ of `Êläm עֵילָם,ª answeredª° and saidª° unto `Ezrà עֶזרָה,ª We¹ have trespassedª° against our ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,ª and have takenª° strangeª wivesª of the peopleª¹ of the land:ª yet now¹ there isª hopeª in Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלª concerning¹ this¹ thing.
