So the king hearkened not unto the people; for it was brought about of God, that Jehovah might establish his word, which he spake by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

So the kingª hearkenedª° not¹ unto¹ the people:ª for¹ the causeª was¹ of¹¹ God,ª that¹ the LORDª might performª°¹ his word,ª which¹ he spakeª° by the handª of Ahijahª the Shiloniteª to¹ Jeroboamª the sonª of Nebat.ª
