And she said, As Jehovah thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

And she said,ª° [As] the LORDª thy Godª liveth,ª I haveª not¹ a cake,ª but¹¹ an handfulªª of mealª in a barrel,ª and a littleª oilª in a cruse:ª and, behold,¹ I [am] gatheringª° twoª sticks,ª that I may go inª° and dressª° it for me and my son,ª that we may eatª° it, and die.ª°
