For Jehovah will smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherim, provoking Jehovah to anger.

For the LORDª shall smiteª°¹ Israel,ª as¹ a reedª is shakenª° in the water,ª and he shall root upª°¹ Israelª out of¹¹ this¹ goodª land,ª which¹ he gaveª° to their fathers,ª and shall scatterª° them beyondª¹ the river,ª because¹¹ they have madeª°¹ their groves,ª provoking the LORD² to anger.ª°¹¹
