And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father knoweth well that I have found favor in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as Jehovah liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.

And Davidª swareª° moreover,¹ and said,ª° Thy fatherª certainly²° knowethª° that¹ I have foundª° graceª in thine eyes;ª and he saith,ª° Let not¹ Jonathanª knowª° this,¹ lest¹ he be grieved:ª° but trulyª [as] the LORDª liveth,ª and [as] thy soulª liveth,ª [there¹ is] but a stepª between¹ me and death.ª

And Dauidª swareª° moreouer,¹ and said,ª° Thy fatherª certeinly²° knowethª° that¹ I haue foundª° graceª in thine eyes,ª and he sayth,ª° Let not¹ Ionathanª knowª° this,¹ lest¹ he be grieued:ª° but truely,ª [as] the LORDª liueth,ª and [as] thy souleª liueth,ª there¹ [is] but a stepª betweene¹ me & death.ª

And David answered Jonathan, and said, Thy father knows surely that I have found grace in thy sight, and he said, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he refuse his consent: but [as] the Lord lives and thy soul lives, as I said, [the space] is filled up between me and death.
