And the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter; which thing ought not to be done.

And the sonsª of Jacobª cameª° out of¹ the fieldª when they heardª° [it]: and the men²¹ were grieved,ª° and they were very² wroth,ª°¹ because¹ he had wroughtª° follyª in Israelª in lying²° with¹¹ Jacob'sª daughter;ª which thing¹ ought not¹ to be done.ª°

And the sons of Jacob came from the plain; and when they heard, the men were deeply pained, and it was very grievous to them, because [the man] wrought folly in Israel, having lain with the daughter of Jacob, and so it must not be.

And the sonsª of Ya`áköv יַעֲקֹבª cameª° out of¹ the fieldª when they heardª° [it]: and the men²¹ were grieved,ª° and they were very² wroth,ª°¹ because¹ he had wroughtª° follyª in Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלª in lying²° with¹¹ Ya`áköv's יַעֲקֹבª daughter;ª which thing¹ ought not¹ to be done.ª°
