high places:

the sin:

the thorn:
"For,¹ lo,¹ they are goneª ° because of destruction:ª ¹ Egyptª shall gather them up,ª ° Memphisª shall buryª ° them: the pleasantª [places] for their silver,ª nettlesª shall possessª ° them: thornsª [shall be] in their tabernacles.ª" {Hsa 9:6} + "Upon¹ the landª of my peopleª shall come upª ° thornsª [and] briers;ª yea,¹ upon¹ all¹ the housesª of joyª [in] the joyousª city:ª" {Isa 32:13} + "And thornsª shall come upª ° in her palaces,ª nettlesª and bramblesª in the fortressesª thereof: and it shall be¹ an habitationª of dragons,² ¹ [and] a courtª for owls.ª ª" {Isa 34:13}

their altars:
