{Song of Songs 5:12} His eyes 5869 [are] as [the eyes] of doves 3123 by x5921 the rivers 650 of waters, 4325 washed 7364 z8801 with milk, 2461 [and] fitly set. 3427 4402 z8802
His eyes:
Rather, "His eyes are as doves;" the deep blue pigeon, the common dove in the East, whose brilliant plumage vibrates around his neck every sparkling hue, every dazzling flash of colour. And this pigeon standing amid "the torrents of water," or the foam of a waterfall, would be a blue centre with a bright space like the iris of the eye, surrounded by the white. "Behold,¹ thou [art] fair,ª my love;ª behold,¹ thou [art] fair;ª thou [hast] doves'ª eyes.ª" {Sgs 1:15} + "Behold,¹ thou [art] fair,ª my love;ª behold,¹ thou [art] fair;ª thou [hast] doves'ª eyesª withinª¹ thy locks:ª thy hairª [is] as a flockª of goats,ª that appearª¹ from mountª¹ Gilead.ª" {Sgs 4:1} + "Neitherªª is¹ there²° any creatureª that is not manifestª in his² sight:ª¹ butª all thingsª [are] nakedª andª openedª° unto the¹ eyesª of himª withª whomª we have² to do.ª¹" {Hbr 4:13}
fitly set:
Heb. sitting in fulness, that is, fitly placed, and set as a precious stone in the foil of a ring.
