- toucheth the dead:
- He who touched a dead beast was only unclean for one day ("Whatsoever¹¹ hath no¹ finsª nor scalesª in the waters,ª that¹ [shall be] an abominationª unto you." {Lev 11:12} + "And whatsoeverª² goethª° upon¹ his paws,ª among all manner¹ of beastsª that goª° on¹ [all] four,ª those¹ [are] uncleanª unto you: whoso¹ touchethª° their carcaseª shall be uncleanª° until¹ the even.ª" {Lev 11:27} + "And if¹ any beast,ª of¹ which¹ ye may eat,ª die;ª° he that touchethª° the carcaseª thereof shall be uncleanª° until¹ the even.ª" {Lev 11:39}); but he who touches a dead man is unclean for seven days.
