- Threescore and six were before mentioned ("All¹ the soulsª that cameª° with Jacobª into Egypt,ª which came outª° of his loins,ª besides¹¹ Jacob'sª sons'ª wives,ª all¹ the soulsª [were] threescoreª and six;ª" {Gen 46:26}), so that Joseph and his two sons, together with Jacob himself, complete the seventy persons here enumerated; and the number in "These¹ [be] the sonsª of Leah,ª which¹ she bareª° unto Jacobª in Padanaram,ª with¹ his daughterª Dinah:ª all¹ the soulsª of his sonsª and his daughtersª [were] thirtyª and three.ª" {Gen 46:15} + "These¹ [are] the sonsª of Zilpah,ª whom¹ Labanª gaveª° to Leahª his daughter,ª and¹ these¹ she bareª° unto Jacob,ª [even] sixteenªª souls.ª" {Gen 46:18} + "These¹ [are] the sonsª of Rachel,ª which¹ were bornª° to Jacob:ª all¹ the soulsª [were] fourteen.ªª" {Gen 46:22}, and "These¹ [are] the sonsª of Bilhah,ª which¹ Labanª gaveª° unto Rachelª his daughter,ª and she bareª°¹ these¹ unto Jacob:ª all¹ the soulsª [were] seven.ª" {Gen 46:25} amount to that number.
