Habakkuk 2

1 Unto Habakkuk, waiting for an answer, is shewed that he must walk by faith. 5 The judgment upon the Chaldeans for unsatiableness, 9 for covetousness, 12 for cruelty, 15 for drunkeness, 18 and for idolatry.

 2:1 I will stand 5975 on my guard 4931 post 4931 And station 3320 myself on the rampart 4692; And I will keep 6822 watch 6822 to see 7200 what 4100 He will speak 1696 to me, And how 4100 I may reply 7725 when 5921 I am reproved 8433b.

 2:2 Then the LORD 3068 answered 6030a me and said 559, “Record 3789 the vision 2377 And inscribe 874 [it] on tablets 3871, That the one who reads 7121 it may run 7323.

 2:3 “For the vision 2377 is yet 5750 for the appointed 4150 time 4150; It hastens 6315 toward the goal 7093 and it will not fail 3576. Though 518 it tarries 4102, wait 2442 for it; For it will certainly 935 come 935, it will not delay 309.

 2:4 ¶ “Behold 2009, as for the proud 6075a one, His soul 5315 is not right 3474 within him; But the righteous 6662 will live 2421a by his faith 530.

 2:5 “Furthermore 637, wine 3196 betrays 898 the haughty 3093 man 1397, So that he does not stay 5115b at home 5115b. He enlarges 7337 his appetite 5315 like Sheol 7585, And he is like death 4194, never 3808 satisfied 7646. He also gathers 622 to himself all 3605 nations 1471 And collects 622 to himself all 3605 peoples 5971a.

 2:6 ¶ “Will not all 3605 of these 428 take 5375 up a taunt-song 4912 against 5921 him, Even mockery 4426 [and] insinuations 2420 against him And say 559, ‘Woe 1945 to him who increases 7235a what is not his— For how 4970 long 5704 4970— And makes 3513 himself rich 3513 with loans 5671?’

 2:7 “Will not your creditors 5391a rise 6965 up suddenly 6621, And those who collect 2111 from you awaken 3364? Indeed, you will become 1961 plunder 4933 for them.

 2:8 “Because 3588 you have looted 7997b many 7227a nations 1471, All 3605 the remainder 3499a of the peoples 5971a will loot 7997b you— Because 4480 of human 120 bloodshed 1818 and violence 2555 done to the land 776, To the town 7151 and all 3605 its inhabitants 3427.

 2:9 ¶ “Woe 1945 to him who gets 1214 evil 7451a gain 1215 for his house 1004 To put 7760 his nest 7064 on high 4791, To be delivered 5337 from the hand 3709 of calamity 7451b!

 2:10 “You have devised 3289 a shameful 1322 thing 1322 for your house 1004 By cutting 7096 off 7096 many 7227a peoples 5971a; So you are sinning 2398 against yourself 5315.

 2:11 “Surely 3588 the stone 68 will cry 2199 out from the wall 7023, And the rafter 3714 will answer 6030a it from the framework 6086.

 2:12 ¶ “Woe 1945 to him who builds 1129 a city 5892b with bloodshed 1818 And founds 3559 a town 7151 with violence 5767b!

 2:13 “Is it not indeed 2009 from the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 That peoples 5971a toil 3021 for fire 784, And nations 3816 grow 3286 weary 3286 for nothing 7385b?

 2:14 “For the earth 776 will be filled 4390 With the knowledge 3045 of the glory 3519b of the LORD 3068, As the waters 4325 cover 3680 the sea 3220.

 2:15 ¶ “Woe 1945 to you who make your neighbors 7453 drink 8248, Who mix 5596 in your venom 2534 even 637 to make 7937 [them] drunk 7937 So 4616 as to look 5027 on their nakedness 4589!

 2:16 “You will be filled 7646 with disgrace 7036 rather 4480 than 4480 honor 3519b. Now 1571 you yourself 859 drink 8354 and expose 6188 your [own] nakedness 6188. The cup 3563a in the LORD’S 3068 right 3225 hand 3225 will come 5437 around 5437 to you, And utter 7022 disgrace 7022 [will come] upon your glory 3519b.

 2:17 “For the violence 2555 done to Lebanon 3844 will overwhelm 3680 you, And the devastation 7701 of [its] beasts 929 by which you terrified 2865 them, Because 4480 of human 120 bloodshed 1818 and violence 2555 done to the land 776, To the town 7151 and all 3605 its inhabitants 3427.

 2:18 ¶ “What 4100 profit 3276 is the idol 6459 when 3588 its maker 3335 has carved 6458 it, [Or] an image 4541a, a teacher 3384 of falsehood 8267? For [its] maker 3335 trusts 982 in his [own] handiwork 3336 When he fashions 6213a speechless 483 idols 457.

 2:19 “Woe 1945 to him who says 559 to a [piece of] wood 6086, ‘Awake 7019a!’ To a mute 1748 stone 68, ‘Arise 5782!’ [And] that is [your] teacher 3384? Behold 2009, it is overlaid 8610 with gold 2091 and silver 3701, And there 369 is no 369 breath 7307 at all 3605 inside 7130 it.

 2:20 “But the LORD 3068 is in His holy 6944 temple 1964. Let all 3605 the earth 776 be silent 2013 before 4480 6440 Him.”
