 3:1 ¶ And she lodged with her mother-in-law: and Naomi{gr.Noemin} her mother-in-law said to her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

 3:1 ¶ Then Naomiº her mother in lawº saidºº unto her, My daughter,º shall I notº seekºº restº for thee, thatº it may be wellºº with thee?

 3:2 And now [is] not Boaz{gr.Booz} our kinsman, with whose damsels thou wast? behold, he winnows barley this night in the floor.

 3:2 And nowº [is] notº Boazº of our kindred,º withº whoseº maidensº thou wast?º Behold,º heº winnowethºº barleyº to nightº inº the threshingfloor.º

 3:3 But do thou wash, and anoint thyself, and put thy raiment upon thee, and go up to the threshing-floor: do not discover thyself to the man until he has done eating and drinking.

 3:3 Washºº thyself therefore, and anointºº thee, and putºº thy raimentº uponº thee, and get thee downºº to the floor:º [but] make not thyself knownººº unto the man,º untilº he shall have doneºº eatingºº and drinking.ºº

 3:4 And it shall come to pass when he lies down, that thou shalt mark the place where he lies down, and shalt come and lift up the covering of his feet, and shalt lie down; and he shall tell thee what thou shalt do.

 3:4 And it shall be,º when he lieth down,ºº that thou shalt markººº the placeº whereºº he shall lie,ºº and thou shalt go in,ºº and uncoverºº his feet,º and lay thee down;ºº and heº will tellºº theeº whatº thou shalt do.ºº

 3:5 And Ruth said to her, All that thou shalt say, I will do.

 3:5 And she saidºº untoº her, Allº thatº thou sayestºº untoº me I will do.ºº

 3:6 ¶ And she went down to the threshing-floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law enjoined her.

 3:6 ¶ And she went downºº unto the floor,º and didºº according to allº thatº her mother in lawº badeºº her.

 3:7 And Boaz{gr.Booz} ate and drank, and his heart was glad, and he came to lie down by the side of the heap of corn; and she came secretly, and lifted up the covering of his feet.

 3:7 And when Boazº had eatenºº and drunk,ºº and his heartº was merry,ºº he wentºº to lie downºº at the endº of the heap of corn:º and she cameºº softly,º and uncoveredºº his feet,º and laid her down.ºº

 3:8 ¶ And it came to pass at midnight that the man was amazed, and troubled, and behold, a woman lay at his feet.

 3:8 ¶ And it came to passº at midnight,ºº that the manº was afraid,ºº and turnedºº himself:º and, behold,º a womanº layºº at his feet.º

 3:9 And he said, Who art thou? and she said, I am thine handmaid Ruth; spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid, for thou art a near relation.

 3:9 And he said,ºº Whoº [art] thou?º And she answered,ºº Iº [am] Ruthº thine handmaid:º spreadºº therefore thy skirtº overº thine handmaid;º forº thouº [art] a near kinsman.ºº

 3:10 And Boaz{gr.Booz} said, Blessed [be] thou of the Lord God, [my] daughter, for thou hast made thy latter kindness greater than the former, in that thou followest not after young men, whether [any be] poor or rich.

 3:10 And he said,ºº Blessedºº [be] thouº of Yahweh,º my daughter:º [for] thou hast shewedºº moreº kindnessº in the latter endº thanº at the beginning,º inasmuch as thou followedstºººº notº young men,º whetherº poorº orº rich.º

 3:11 And now fear not, my daughter, whatever thou shalt say I will do to thee; for all the tribe of my people knows that thou art a virtuous woman.

 3:11 And now,º my daughter,º fearºº not;º I will doºº to thee allº thatº thou requirest:ºº forº allº the cityº of my peopleº doth knowºº thatº thou [art] a virtuousº woman.º

 3:12 And now I am truly akin to thee; nevertheless there is a kinsman nearer than I.

 3:12 And nowºº it is trueº thatºº Iº [am thy] near kinsman:ºº howbeitº there isº a kinsmanºº nearerº thanº I.

 3:13 Lodge [here] for the night, and it shall be in the morning, if he will do the part of a kinsman to thee, well-- let him do it: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, I will do the kinsman's part to thee, [as] the Lord lives; lie down till the morning.

 3:13 Tarryºº this night,º and it shall beº in the morning,º [that] ifº he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman,ºº well;º let him do the kinsman's part:ºº but ifº he willºº notº do the part of a kinsmanºº to thee, then will Iº do the part of a kinsmanºº to thee, [as] Yahwehº liveth:º lie downºº untilº the morning.º

 3:14 ¶ And she lay at his feet until the morning; and she rose up before a man could know his neighbour; and Boaz{gr.Booz} said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.

 3:14 ¶ And she layºº at his feetº untilº the morning:º and she rose upºº beforeº oneº could knowººº another.º And he said,ºº Let it notº be knownºº thatº a womanº cameºº into the floor.º

 3:15 And he said to her, Bring the apron that is upon thee: and she held it, and he measured six measures of barley, and put them upon her, and she went into the city.

 3:15 Also he said,ºº Bringºº the vailº thatº [thou hast] uponº thee, and holdºº it. And when she heldºº it, he measuredºº sixº [measures] of barley,º and laidºº [it] onº her: and she wentºº intoº the city.º

 3:16 And Ruth went in to her mother-in-law, and she said to her, [My] daughter! and [Ruth] told her all that the man had done to her.

 3:16 And when she cameºº toº her mother in law,º she said,ºº Whoº [art] thou,º my daughter?º And she toldºº herº allº thatº the manº had doneºº to her.

 3:17 And she said to her, He gave me these six measures of barley, for he said to me, Go not empty to thy mother-in-law.

 3:17 And she said,ºº Theseº sixº [measures] of barleyº gaveºº he me; forº he saidºº toº me, Goºº notº emptyº untoº thy mother in law.º

 3:18 And she said, Sit still, [my] daughter, until thou shalt know how the matter will fall out; for the man will not rest until the matter be accomplished this day.

 3:18 Then saidºº she, Sit still,ºº my daughter,º untilºº thou knowºº howº the matterº will fall:ºº forº the manº will notº be in rest,ºº untilºº he have finishedºº the thingº this day.º
