 3:1 And see how great is the love of the Father toward us, that sons he hath called us, and also made us! Therefore the world doth not know us, because that it hath also not known him.

 3:1 And ye see, how great is the love of the Father towards us, who hath called us sons, and made us [such]. Therefore the world knoweth us not, because it likewise knoweth him not.

 3:2 ¶ MY beloved, now are we the sons of Aloha; and it is not manifest, as yet, what we are to become, but we know, that when he is manifested, in his likeness we are and see him, according to that which he is.

 3:2 My beloved, now are we the sons of God; and hitherto, it hath not appeared what we are to be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be in his likeness, and we shall see him as he is.

 3:3 And every one who hath in him this hope, purifieth himself, as He is pure.

 3:3 And every one that hath this hope from him, purifieth himself, as he is pure.

 3:4 But whoever committeth sin doeth iniquity; for all sin is iniquity.

 3:4 And every one that practiseth sin, perpetrateth iniquity; for all sin is iniquity.

 3:5 And you know that he was manifested to bear our sins, and sin in him is not.

 3:5 And ye know, that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him was no sin.

 3:6 And every one who in him abideth, sinneth not. And every one who sinneth, hath not seen him, nor known him.

 3:6 And every one that abideth in him, sinneth not: and every one that sinneth, hath not seen him, nor hath known him.

 3:7 My sons, let no man deceive you: he who worketh righteousness is righteous, as also the Meshiha himself is righteous.

 3:7 My children, let no one deceive you: he that doeth righteousness, is righteous, as the Messiah also is righteous.

 3:8 And he who doeth sin is of Satana, because that from the commencement Satana was a sinner. And for this cause did the Son of Aloha appear, that he might destroy the works of Satana.

 3:8 And he that committeth sin, is of Satan; because Satan was a sinner from the beginning: and for this cause, the Son of God appeared, that he might destroy the works of Satan.

 3:9 Every one who is born of Aloha, sin doth not work, because that his seed is in him, and he cannot sin, because of Aloha he is born.

 3:9 Every one that is born of God, doth not practise sin; because his seed is in him, and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

 3:10 In this are distinguished the sons of Aloha from the sons of Satana; every one who doeth not righteousness, nor loveth his brother, is not of Aloha.

 3:10 By this are the children of God discriminated from the children of Satan. Every one that practiseth not righteousness, and that loveth not his brother, is not of God:

 3:11 For this is the commandment which you have heard from before, that you love one another.

 3:11 because this is the commandment, which ye heard from the beginning, that ye should love one another.

 3:12 Not as Koen, who was from the Evil, and killed his brother. And on what account killed he him? unless that his own works were evil and his brother's righteous.

 3:12 Not like Cain, who was of the evil one, and slew his brother. And why did he slay him, but because his own works were evil, and those of his brother righteous?

 3:13 Do not wonder, my brethren, if the world hate you.

 3:13 And wonder not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, by this, that we love our brethren. He who loveth not his brother, in death continueth.

 3:14 We know that we have turned from death unto life, by this, that we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother, remaineth in death.

 3:15 For every one who hateth his brother is a man-killer; and we know that in no man-killer can abide the life which is eternal.

 3:15 For every one that hateth his brother, is a man-slayer; and ye know, that no man-slayer can have eternal life abiding in him.

 3:16 In this we know His love toward us, that he gave himself for us; (so) also it is right for us for the sake of our brethren to give ourselves.

 3:16 By this we know his love towards us, because he gave up his life for us:. and we also ought to give up our lives for our brethren.

 3:17 And he who hath the possession of the world, and shall see his brother that he needeth, and shall shut his compassions from him, how is there in him the love of Aloha?

 3:17 But whoever hath worldly possessions, and seeth his brother in want, and shutteth up his bowels from him, how is the love of God in him?

 3:18 My sons, let us not love one another in words and in tongue, but in works and in truth.

 3:18 My children, let us not love one another in words and in tongue, but in acts and in truth.

 3:19 And by this we make known that we are of the truth, and before that he cometh we make confident our hearts.

 3:19 And by this, we recognize that we are of the truth; and, before he shall come, we make our hearts confident.

 3:20 And if our heart condemn us, how much (more) Aloha, who is greater than our heart, and knoweth every thing!

 3:20 But if our heart condemneth us, how much greater is God than our heart, and knowing all things?

 3:21 My beloved, if our heart condemn us not, we have openness of face before Aloha.

 3:21 My beloved, if our heart condemneth us not, we have open countenances before God.

 3:22 And whatever we ask, we shall receive from him, because we keep his commandments, and do the things which are beautiful before him.

 3:22 And whatever we ask, we receive from him; because we keep his commandments, and do acceptable things before him.

 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we believe in the name of his Son Jeshu Meshiha, and love one another, as he hath commanded us.

 3:23 And this is his commandment, that we believe on the name of his Son Jesus the Messiah, and that we love one another as he hath commanded us.

 3:24 And he who keepeth his commandments, is kept by him, and he dwelleth in him: and by this we perceive that he dwelleth in us, by his Spirit whom he hath given to us.

 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments, is kept by him, and he dwelleth in him: and by this we understand that he abideth in us, from his Spirit which he hath given to us.
