the angel:
"Unto the¹ angelª of the¹ churchª of Ephesusª write;ª ° These thingsª saithª ° he that holdethª ° the¹ sevenª starsª inª his² ¹ right hand,ª who² walkethª ° inª the midstª of the¹ sevenª goldenª candlesticks;ª" {Rev 2:1} + "Saying,ª ° Iª amª °¹ Alphaª andª ¹ Omega,ª the¹ firstª andª the¹ last:ª and,ª Whatª thou seest,ª ° writeª ° inª a book,ª andª sendª ° [it] unto the¹ sevenª churchesª whichª are inª Asia;ª untoª Ephesus,ª andª untoª Smyrna,ª andª untoª Pergamos,ª andª untoª Thyatira,ª andª untoª Sardis,ª andª untoª Philadelphia,ª andª untoª Laodicea.ª" {Rev 1:11}

Pergamos:
Pergamos, now Bergamo, the ancient metropolis of Mysia, and the residence of the Attalian kings, is situated on the river Caicus, about sixty miles north of Smyrna, in long. 27 degrees e lat. 39 degrees 11 minutes n. It still retains some measure of its ancient importance; containing a population of 15,000 souls, and having nine or ten mosques, two churches, and one synagogue.
