Ερραπισαν [Strong's G4474], "smote him on the cheek with the open hand," as Suidas renders. They offered him every indignity, in all its various and vexatious forms.

the palms of their hands:
or, rods, "Now¹ gather² ° thyself in troops,² ¹ O daughterª of troops:ª he hath laidª ° siegeª against¹ us: they shall smiteª °¹ the judgeª ° of Israelª with a rodª upon¹ the cheek.ª" {Mic 5:1}
