{Malachi 1:2} I have loved 157 z8804 you, saith y5002 z8803 x559 the LORD. 3068 Yet ye say, 559 z8804 Wherein x4100 hast thou loved 157 z8804 us? [Was] not x3808 Esau 6215 Jacob's 3290 brother? 251 saith y559 z8804 x5002 the LORD: 3068 yet I loved 157 z8799 x853 Jacob, 3290
I have:
The prophet shows in "I have lovedª° you, saith²°¹ the LORD.ª Yet ye say,ª° Wherein¹ hast thou lovedª° us? [Was] not¹ Esauª Jacob'sª brother?ª saith²°¹ the LORD:ª yet I lovedª°¹ Jacob,ª ... And your eyesª shall see,ª° and ye¹ shall say,ª° The LORDª will be magnifiedª° from¹¹ the borderª of Israel.ª" {Mal 1:2-5} how much Jacob and the Israelites were favoured by Jehovah, more than Esau and the Edomites. Through every period of the history of Jacob's posterity, they could not deny that God had remarkably appeared on their behalf; but he had rendered the heritage of Esau's descendants, by wars and various other means, barren and waste forever. "For¹ thou¹ [art] an holyª peopleª unto the LORDª thy God:ª the LORDª thy Godª hath chosenª° thee to be¹ a specialª peopleª unto himself, above all¹¹ peopleª that¹ [are] upon¹ the faceª of the earth.ª ... But¹ because the LORDª lovedª¹ you, and because he would keepª°¹¹ the oathª which¹ he had swornª° unto your fathers,ª hath the LORDª brought you outª°¹ with a mightyª hand,ª and redeemedª° you out of the houseª¹ of bondmen,ª from the handª¹ of Pharaohª kingª of Egypt.ª" {Deu 7:6-8} + "Only¹ the LORDª had a delightª° in thy fathersª to loveª° them, and he choseª° their seedª afterª them, [even] you above all¹¹ people,ª as [it is] this¹ day.ª" {Deu 10:15} + "When the most Highª dividedª° to the nationsª their inheritance,²° when he separatedª° the sonsª of Adam,ª he setª° the boundsª of the peopleª according to the numberª of the childrenª of Israel.ª ... Butterª of kine,ª and milkª of sheep,ª with¹ fatª of lambs,ª and ramsª of the breedª of Bashan,ª and goats,ª with¹ the fatª of kidneysª of wheat;ª and thou didst drinkª° the pureª bloodª of the grape.ª" {Deu 32:8-14} + "But thou,¹ Israel,ª [art] my servant,ª Jacobª whom¹ I have chosen,ª° the seedª of Abrahamª my friend.ª° ... [Thou] whom¹ I have takenª° from the endsª¹ of the earth,ª and calledª° thee from the chief menª¹ thereof, and saidª° unto thee, Thou¹ [art] my servant;ª I have chosenª° thee, and not¹ cast thee away.ª°" {Isa 41:8-9} + "Since¹¹ thou wast preciousª° in my sight,ª thou hast been honourable,ª° and I¹ have lovedª° thee: therefore will I giveª° menª for¹ thee, and peopleª for¹ thy life.ª" {Isa 43:4} + "The LORDª hath appearedª° of oldª¹ unto me, [saying], Yea, I have lovedª° thee with an everlastingª love:ª therefore¹¹ with lovingkindnessª have I drawnª° thee." {Jer 31:3} + "As concerningªª the¹ gospel,ª [they are] enemiesª for your sakes:ªª butª as touchingª the¹ election,ª [they are] belovedª for²° the fathers'² sakes.ª¹¹ ... Forª the¹ giftsª andª callingª of Godª [are] without repentance.ª" {Rom 11:28-29}
Wherein:
"A sonª honourethª° [his] father,ª and a servantª his master:ª if¹ then I¹ [be] a father,ª where¹ [is] mine honour?ª and if¹ I¹ [be] a master,ª where¹ [is] my fear?ª saithª° the LORDª of hostsª unto you, O priests,ª that despiseª° my name.ª And ye say,ª° Wherein¹ have we despisedª°¹ thy name?ª ... Ye offerª° pollutedª° breadª upon¹ mine altar;ª and ye say,ª° Wherein¹ have we pollutedª° thee? In that ye say,ª° The tableª of the LORDª [is] contemptible.ª°" {Mal 1:6-7} + "Ye have weariedª° the LORDª with your words.ª Yet ye say,ª° Wherein¹ have we weariedª° [him]? When ye say,ª° Every one¹ that doethª° evilª [is] goodª in the sightª of the LORD,ª and he¹ delightethª° in them; or,¹ Where¹ [is] the Godª of judgment?ª" {Mal 2:17} + "Even from the daysª¹ of your fathersª ye are gone awayª° from mine ordinances,ª¹ and have not¹ keptª° [them]. Returnª° unto¹ me, and I will returnª° unto¹ you, saithª° the LORDª of hosts.ª But ye said,ª° Wherein¹ shall we return?ª° ... Will a manª robª° God?ª Yet¹ ye¹ have robbedª° me. But ye say,ª° Wherein¹ have we robbedª° thee? In tithesª and offerings.ª" {Mal 3:7-8} + "Your wordsª have been stoutª° against¹ me, saithª° the LORD.ª Yet ye say,ª° What¹ have we spokenª° [so much] against¹ thee? ... Ye have said,ª° It [is] vainª to serveª° God:ª and what¹ profitª [is it] that¹ we have keptª° his ordinance,ª and that¹ we have walkedª° mournfullyª beforeª¹ the LORDª of hosts?ª" {Mal 3:13-14} + "Thus¹ saithª° the LORD,ª What¹ iniquityª have your fathersª foundª° in me, that¹ they are gone farª° from¹¹ me, and have walked²°¹ afterª vanity,ª and are become vain?ª°" {Jer 2:5} + "O generation,ª seeª° ye¹ the wordª of the LORD.ª Have I been¹ a wildernessª unto Israel?ª a landª of darkness?ª wherefore¹ sayª° my people,ª We are lords;ª° we will comeª° no¹ more¹ unto¹ thee?" {Jer 2:31} + "Butª he,¹ willingª° to justifyª° himself,ª saidª° untoª Jesus,ª Andª whoª isª° myª neighbour?ª" {Lke 10:29}
yet I:
"And the LORDª saidª° unto her, Twoª nationsª [are] in thy womb,ª and two¹ manner² of peopleª shall be separatedª° from thy bowels;ª¹ and [the one] peopleª shall be strongerª° than [the other] people;ª¹ and the elderª shall serveª° the younger.ª" {Gen 25:23} + "And he came near,ª° and kissedª° him: and he smelledª°¹ the smellª of his raiment,ª and blessedª° him, and said,ª° See,ª° the smellª of my sonª [is] as the smellª of a fieldª which¹ the LORDª hath blessed:ª° ... And it came to pass,¹ as soon as¹ Isaacª had made an endª° of blessingª°¹ Jacob,ª and Jacobª was¹ yetª scarce²° gone outª° from¹¹ the presenceª of Isaacª his father,ª that Esauª his brotherª came inª° from his hunting.ª¹" {Gen 27:27-30} + "And Isaacª trembledª° very² exceedingly,ªª¹¹ and said,ª° Who?¹ whereª [is] he¹ that hath takenª° venison,ª and broughtª° [it] me, and I have eatenª° of all¹¹ before¹ thou camest,ª° and have blessedª° him? yea,¹ [and] he shall be¹ blessed.ª°" {Gen 27:33} + "And Godª Almightyª blessª° thee, and make thee fruitful,ª° and multiplyª° thee, that thou mayest be¹ a multitudeª of people;ª ... And giveª° thee¹ the blessingª of Abraham,ª to thee, and to thy seedª with¹ thee; that thou mayest inheritª°¹ the landª wherein thou art a stranger,ª which¹ Godª gaveª° unto Abraham.ª" {Gen 28:3-4} + "And, behold,¹ the LORDª stoodª° above¹ it, and said,ª° I¹ [am] the LORDª Godª of Abrahamª thy father,ª and the Godª of Isaac:ª the landª whereon¹¹ thou¹ liest,ª° to thee will I give¹ it,²° and to thy seed;ª ... And thy seedª shall be¹ as the dustª of the earth,ª and thou shalt spread abroadª° to the west,ª and to the east,ª and to the north,ª and to the south:ª and in thee and in thy seedª shall all¹ the familiesª of the earthª be blessed.ª°" {Gen 28:13-14} + "And he said,ª° Thy nameª shall be calledª° no¹ more¹ Jacob,ª but¹¹ Israel:ª for¹ as a prince hast thou powerª° with¹ Godª and with¹ men,²¹ and hast prevailed.ª° ... And Jacobª calledª° the nameª of the placeª Peniel:ª for¹ I have seenª° Godª faceª to¹ face,ª and my lifeª is preserved.ª°" {Gen 32:28-30} + "And saidª° unto¹ me, Behold,¹ I will make thee fruitful,ª° and multiplyª° thee, and I will makeª° of thee a multitudeª of people;ª and will giveª°¹ this¹ landª to thy seedª after¹ thee² [for] an everlastingª possession.ª" {Gen 48:4} + "Andª notª onlyª [this]; butª when Rebeccaª alsoª had¹ conceivedª byª one,ª²° [even] by ourª fatherª Isaac;ª ...
