and go down:
"The wildernessª and the solitary placeª shall be gladª ° for them; and the desertª shall rejoice,ª ° and blossomª ° as the rose.ª" {Isa 35:1} + "And the parched groundª shall become¹ a pool,ª and the thirsty landª springsª of water:ª in the habitationª of dragons,² ¹ where each lay,ª [shall be] grassª with reedsª and rushes.ª" {Isa 35:7} + "[When] the poorª and needyª seekª ° water,ª and [there is] none,¹ [and] their tongueª failethª ° for thirst,ª I¹ the LORDª will hearª ° them, I the Godª of Israelª will not¹ forsakeª ° them. ... desert:
or, plain, "The plainª also, and Jordan,ª and the coastª [thereof], from Chinnerethª ¹ even unto¹ the seaª of the plain,ª [even] the saltª sea,ª under¹ Ashdothpisgahª °² ¹ eastward.ª" {Deu 3:17} + "And all¹ the plainª on this sideª Jordanª eastward,ª even unto¹ the seaª of the plain,ª under¹ the springsª of Pisgah.ª" {Deu 4:49} + "That the watersª which came downª ° from aboveª ¹ stoodª ° [and] rose upª ° upon anª heapª veryª farª ° from the cityª Adam,ª ¹ that¹ [is] besideª ¹ Zaretan:ª and those that came downª ° toward¹ the seaª of the plain,ª [even] the saltª sea,ª failed,ª ° [and] were cut off:ª ° and the peopleª passed overª ° right against¹ Jericho.ª" {Jsh 3:16}

the sea:
This was the Dead sea, or sea of Sodom, east of Jerusalem, in which it is said no living creature is found; or, at least, from its extreme saltness, it does not abound with fish like other seas. The healing of these waters denotes the calling of the Gentiles.

the waters:
"And the men² ¹ of the cityª saidª ° unto¹ Elisha,ª Behold,¹ I pray thee,¹ the situationª of this cityª [is] pleasant,ª as¹ my lordª seeth:ª ° but the waterª [is] naught,ª and the groundª barren.ª ° ... So the watersª were healedª ° unto¹ this¹ day,ª according to the sayingª of Elishaª which¹ he spake.ª °" {2Kg 2:19-22} + "The wolfª also shall dwellª ° with¹ the lamb,ª and the leopardª shall lie downª ° with¹ the kid;ª and the calfª and the young lionª and the fatlingª together;ª and a littleª childª shall leadª ° them. ...
