{Ezekiel 39:9} And they that dwell 3427 z8802 in the cities 5892 of Israel 3478 shall go forth, 3318 z8804 and shall set y1197 z8765 on fire y784 x1197 and burn 5400 z8689 the weapons, 5402 both the shields 4043 and the bucklers, 6793 the bows 7198 and the arrows, 2671 and the handstaves, 3027 4731 and the spears, 7420 and they shall burn 1197 z8765 them with fire 784 seven 7651 years: 8141

shall go:
"The worksª of the LORDª [are] great,ª sought outª ° of all¹ them that have pleasureª therein. ... His workª [is] honourableª and glorious:ª and his righteousnessª endurethª ° for ever.ª" {Psa 111:2-3} + "And they shall go forth,ª ° and lookª ° upon the carcasesª of the men² ¹ that have transgressedª ° against me: for¹ their wormª shall not¹ die,ª ° neither¹ shall their fireª be quenched;ª ° and they shall be¹ an abhorringª unto all¹ flesh.ª" {Isa 66:24} + "And your eyesª shall see,ª ° and ye¹ shall say,ª ° The LORDª will be magnifiedª ° from¹ ¹ the borderª of Israel.ª" {Mal 1:5}

and shall:
"So that they shall takeª ° no¹ woodª out of¹ the field,ª neither¹ cut downª ° [any] out of¹ the forests;ª for¹ they shall burnª ° the weaponsª with fire:ª and they shall spoilª °¹ those that spoiledª ° them, and robª °¹ those that robbedª ° them, saithª ° the Lordª GOD.ª" {Ezk 39:10} + "And the LORDª saidª ° unto¹ Joshua,ª Be not¹ afraidª ° because² of¹ ¹ them: for¹ to morrowª about this¹ timeª will I¹ deliver them upª °¹ all¹ slainª beforeª Israel:ª thou shalt houghª °¹ their horses,ª and burnª ° their chariotsª with fire.ª" {Jsh 11:6} + "He maketh warsª to ceaseª ° unto¹ the endª of the earth;ª he breakethª ° the bow,ª and cuttethª ° the spearª in sunder;² ° he burnethª ° the chariotª in the fire.ª" {Psa 46:9} + "And I will cut offª ° the chariotª from Ephraim,ª ¹ and the horseª from Jerusalem,ª ¹ and the battleª bowª shall be cut off:ª ° and he shall speakª ° peaceª unto the heathen:ª and his dominionª [shall be] from seaª ¹ [even] to¹ sea,ª and from the riverª ¹ [even] to¹ the endsª of the earth.ª" {Zch 9:10}

set on fire:
The language here employed seems to intimate that the army of Gog will be cut off by miracle, as that of Sennacherib; for the people are described as going forth, not to fight and conquer, but merely to gather the spoil, and to destroy the weapons of war, as no longer of use., hand staves, or, javelins

and they:
When the immense number and destruction of the invaders are considered, and also the little fuel comparatively which is necessary in warm climates, we may easily conceive of this being literally fulfilled.
