- lifted up:
- This phrase is founded on the observation that those in sorrow hold down their heads; and, when comforted, or the cause of their sorrow removed, they lift up their heads. "Yetª within threeª daysª shall Pharaohª lift upª°¹ thine head,ª and restoreª° thee unto¹ thy place:ª and thou shalt deliverª° Pharaoh'sª cupª into his hand,ª after the formerª mannerª when¹ thou wast¹ his butler.²°¹" {Gen 40:13} + "And it came to pass¹ the thirdª day,ª [which was]¹ Pharaoh'sª birthday,ªª° that he madeª° a feastª unto all¹ his servants:ª and he lifted upª°¹ the headª of the chiefª butler²°¹ and of the chiefª bakerª° amongª his servants.ª" {Gen 40:20} + "When¹ [men] are cast down,ª° then thou shalt say,ª° [There is] lifting up;ª and he shall saveª° the humble² person.ª¹" {Job 22:29} + "But thou,¹ O LORD,ª [art] a shieldª for¹ me; my glory,ª and the lifter upª° of mine head.ª" {Psa 3:3} + "And now¹ shall mine headª be lifted upª° above¹ mine enemiesª° round aboutª me: therefore will I offerª° in his tabernacleª sacrificesª of joy;ª I will sing,ª° yea, I will sing praisesª° unto the LORD.ª" {Psa 27:6}
