- the terrible:
- "Moreover the multitudeª of thy strangersª° shall be¹ like smallª dust,ª and the multitudeª of the terrible onesª [shall be] as chaffª that passeth away:ª° yea, it shall be¹ at an instantª suddenly.ª" {Isa 29:5} + "I¹ have commandedª° my sanctified ones,ª° I have also¹ calledª° my mighty onesª for mine anger,ª [even] them that rejoiceª in my highness.ª" {Isa 13:3} + "For¹ thou hast been¹ a strengthª to the poor,ª a strengthª to the needyª in his distress,ª a refugeª from the storm,ª¹ a shadowª from the heat,ª¹ when¹ the blastª of the terrible onesª [is] as a stormª [against] the wall.ª ... Thou shalt bring downª° the noiseª of strangers,ª° as the heatª in a dry place;ª [even] the heatª with the shadowª of a cloud:ª the branchª of the terrible onesª shall be brought low.ª°" {Isa 25:4-5} + "But¹ thus¹ saithª° the LORD,ª Even¹ the captivesª of the mightyª shall be taken away,ª° and the preyª of the terribleª shall be delivered:ª° for I¹ will contend²° with¹ him that contendeth² with¹ thee, and I¹ will saveª° thy children.ª" {Isa 49:25} + "And forgettestª° the LORDª thy maker,ª° that hath stretched forthª° the heavens,ª and laid the foundationsª° of the earth;ª and hast fearedª° continuallyª every¹ dayª becauseª¹ of the furyª of the oppressor,ª° as¹ if² he were readyª° to destroy?ª° and where¹ [is] the furyª of the oppressor?ª°" {Isa 51:13} + "Afterª thisª I sawªª°° in the nightª visions,ª and beholdª a fourthª beast,ª dreadfulª° and terrible,ª and strongª exceedingly;ª and it had greatª ironª¹ teeth:ª it devouredª° and brake in pieces,ª° and stampedª° the residueª with the feetª of it: and itª [was] diverseª° fromª allª the beastsª that¹ [were] beforeª it; and it had tenª horns.ª" {Dan 7:7} + "Thenª I wouldª° know¹ the truthª° ofª the fourthª beast,ª which¹ wasª° diverseª° fromª allª the others, exceedingª dreadful,ª° whose teethª [were of]¹ iron,ª and his nailsª [of]¹ brass;ª [which] devoured,ª° brake in pieces,ª° and stampedª° the residueª with his feet;ª ... And he shall speakª° [great] wordsª againstª the most High,ª and shall wear outª° the saintsª of the most High,ª and thinkª° to changeª° timesª and laws:ª and they shall be givenª° into his handª untilª a timeª and timesª and the dividingª of time.ª" {Dan 7:19-25} + "For,¹ lo,¹ I raise upª°¹ the Chaldeans,ª [that] bitterª and hastyª° nation,ª which shall marchª° through the breadthª of the land,ª to possessª° the dwellingplacesª [that are] not¹ theirs. ... They¹ [are] terribleª and dreadful:ª° their judgmentª and their dignityª shall proceedª° of¹ themselves." {Hab 1:6-7}
