Cross Reference ISAIAH 20:1 IN THE YEAR THAT TARTAN CAME UNTO ASHDOD WHEN SARGON THE KING OF ASSYRIA SENT HIM AND FOUGHT AGAINST ASHDOD AND TOOK IT

{Isaiah 20:1} In the year 8141 that Tartan 8661 came 935 z8800 unto Ashdod, 795 (when Sargon 5623 the king 4428 of Assyria 804 sent 7971 z8800 him,) and fought 3898 z8735 against Ashdod, 795 and took 3920 z8799 it;

Tartan:
Tartan was one of the generals of Sennacherib, who, it is probable, is here called Sargon, and in the book of Tobit, Sacherdonus and Sacherdan, against whom Tirhakah, king of Cush or Ethiopia, was in league with the king of Egypt. "And the kingª of Assyriaª sentª °¹ Tartanª and Rabsarisª and Rabshakehª from¹ Lachishª to¹ kingª Hezekiahª with a greatª hostª against Jerusalem.ª And they went upª ° and cameª ° to Jerusalem.ª And when they were come up,ª ° they cameª ° and stoodª ° by the conduitª of the upperª pool,ª which¹ [is] in the highwayª of the fuller'sª ° field.ª" {2Kg 18:17}

Ashdod:
"And these¹ [are] the goldenª emerodsª which¹ the Philistinesª returnedª ° [for] a trespass offeringª unto the LORD;ª for Ashdodª one,ª for Gazaª one,ª for Askelonª one,ª for Gathª one,ª for Ekronª one;ª" {1Sm 6:17} + "And all¹ the mingled² people,¹ and¹ all¹ the kingsª of the landª of Uz,ª and all¹ the kingsª of the landª of the Philistines,ª and Ashkelon,ª and Azzah,ª and Ekron,ª and the remnantª of Ashdod,ª" {Jer 25:20} + "And I will cut offª ° the inhabitantª ° from Ashdod,ª ¹ and him that holdethª ° the sceptreª from Ashkelon,ª ¹ and I will turnª ° mine handª against¹ Ekron:ª and the remnantª of the Philistinesª shall perish,ª ° saithª ° the Lordª GOD.ª" {Ams 1:8}

and took:
"For,¹ lo,¹ I¹ beginª ° to bring evilª ° on the cityª which¹ is calledª ° by¹ my name,ª and should ye¹ be utterly² ° unpunished?ª ° Ye shall not¹ be unpunished:ª ° for¹ I¹ will call² ° for¹ a swordª upon¹ all¹ the inhabitantsª ° of the earth,ª saithª ° the LORDª of hosts.ª ... Therefore prophesyª ° thou¹ against¹ them¹ all¹ these¹ words,ª and sayª ° unto¹ them, The LORDª shall roarª ° from on high,ª ¹ and utterª ° his voiceª from his holyª habitation;ª ¹ he shall mightily² ° roarª ° upon¹ his habitation;ª he shall giveª ° a shout,ª as they that treadª ° [the grapes], against¹ all¹ the inhabitantsª ° of the earth.ª" {Jer 25:29-30}
