O my people:

be not afraid:

smite thee:
"O² Assyrian,ª the rodª of mine anger,ª and the staffª in their handª is mine indignation.ª" {Isa 10:5} + "For¹ thou hast brokenª °¹ the yokeª of his burden,ª and the staffª of his shoulder,ª the rodª of his oppressor,ª ° as in the dayª of Midian.ª" {Isa 9:4} + "Rejoiceª ° not¹ thou, whole¹ Palestina,ª because¹ the rodª of him that¹ smoteª ° thee is broken:ª ° for out of the serpent's² rootª ¹ ¹ shall come forthª ° a cockatrice,ª and his fruitª [shall be] a fiery² ° flying² ° serpent.ª ¹" {Isa 14:29} + "Hath he smittenª ° him, as he smoteª those that smoteª ° him?
