{Isaiah 9:4} For x3588 thou hast broken 2865 z8689 x853 the yoke 5923 of his burden, 5448 and the staff 4294 of his shoulder, 7926 the rod 7626 of his oppressor, 5065 z8802 as in the day 3117 of Midian. 4080

For thou hast broken:
or, When thou brakest, "That I will breakª ° the Assyrianª in my land,ª and upon¹ my mountainsª tread him under foot:ª ° then shall his yokeª departª ° from off¹ ¹ them, and his burdenª departª ° from off¹ ¹ their shoulders.ª" {Isa 14:25} + "I was wrothª ° with¹ my people,ª I have pollutedª ° mine inheritance,ª and givenª ° them into thine hand:ª thou didst shewª ° them no¹ mercy;ª upon¹ the ancientª hast thou veryª heavily² ° laid¹ thy yoke.ª" {Isa 47:6} + "And by¹ thy swordª shalt thou live,ª ° and shalt serveª ° thy brother;ª and it shall come to pass¹ when¹ thou shalt have the dominion,ª ° that thou shalt breakª ° his yokeª from off¹ ¹ thy neck.ª" {Gen 27:40} + "I¹ [am] the LORDª your God,ª which¹ brought you forthª °¹ out of the landª ¹ of Egypt,ª that ye should not be¹ ¹ their bondmen;ª and I have brokenª ° the bandsª of your yoke,ª and made you go² °¹ ¹ upright.ª" {Lev 26:13} + "For it shall come to pass¹ in that¹ day,ª saithª ° the LORDª of hosts,ª [that] I will breakª ° his yokeª from off¹ ¹ thy neck,ª and will burstª ° thy bonds,ª and strangersª ° shall no¹ more¹ serveª ° themselves of him:" {Jer 30:8} + "For now¹ will I breakª ° his yokeª from off¹ ¹ thee, and will burst² ° thy bonds² in sunder.ª °¹" {Nah 1:13}

the staff:
