Grant not:
"Deliverª ° me not¹ over unto the willª of mine enemies:ª for¹ falseª witnessesª are risen upª ° against me, and such as breathe outª cruelty.ª" {Psa 27:12} + "Shall the throneª of iniquityª have fellowshipª ° with thee, which framethª ° mischiefª by¹ a law?ª ... They gather themselves togetherª ° against¹ the soulª of the righteous,ª and condemnª ° the innocentª blood.ª" {Psa 94:20-21} + "And [one] toldª ° David,ª saying,ª ° Ahithophelª [is] among the conspiratorsª ° with¹ Absalom.ª And Davidª said,ª ° O LORD,ª I pray thee,¹ turn¹ the counselª of Ahithophelª into foolishness.ª °" {2Sm 15:31} + "He disappointethª ° the devicesª of the crafty,ª so that their handsª cannot¹ performª ° [their] enterprise.ª ... He takethª ° the wiseª in their own craftiness:ª and the counselª of the frowardª ° is carried headlong.ª °" {Job 5:12-13}

lest they exalt themselves:
or, let them not be exalted, "Were it not² that¹ I fearedª ° the wrathª of the enemy,ª ° lest¹ their adversariesª should behave themselves strangely,ª ° [and] lest¹ they should say,ª ° Our handª [is] high,ª ° and the LORDª hath not¹ doneª ° all¹ this.¹" {Deu 32:27}
