That is, "to take vengeance," as asah signifies, "Yet, LORD,ª thou¹ knowestª °¹ all¹ their counselª against¹ me to slayª [me]: forgiveª ° not¹ their iniquity,ª neither¹ blot outª ° their sinª from thy sight,ª ¹ but let them be¹ overthrownª ° beforeª thee; dealª ° [thus] with them in the timeª of thine anger.ª" {Jer 18:23} + "And they shall be¹ mine, saithª ° the LORDª of hosts,ª in that dayª when¹ I¹ make upª ° my jewels;ª and I will spareª °¹ them, as¹ a manª sparethª °¹ his own sonª that servethª ° him." {Mal 3:17}, by an ellipsis of the noun. When infidels, profligates, and Pharisees, "make void the law of God," generally, then it is time for God to arise to vindicate His own honour and maintain His cause among men.
