- He sendeth:
- Heb. Who sendeth, "He turnethª° the wildernessª into a standingª water,ª and dryª groundª into watersprings.ªª" {Psa 107:35}; The waters of the sea are not only prevented from destroying the earth, but, by the providence of God, are rendered the means of preserving every living thing; partly ascending from the great deep through the strata of the earth, partly exhaled in vapour from the surface of the ocean, and thence falling in rain, especially on the tops and sides of mountains, they break forth into fresh springs, and form streams and rivers. "For¹ the LORDª thy Godª bringethª° thee into¹ a goodª land,ª a landª of brooksª of water,ª of fountainsª and depthsª that spring outª° of valleysª and hills;ª" {Deu 8:7} + "And the parched groundª shall become¹ a pool,ª and the thirsty landª springsª of water:ª in the habitationª of dragons,²¹ where each lay,ª [shall be] grassª with reedsª and rushes.ª" {Isa 35:7} + "I will openª° riversª in¹ high places,ª and fountainsª in the midstª of the valleys:ª I will makeª° the wildernessª a poolª of water,ª and the dryª landª springsª of water.ª" {Isa 41:18}
