- turn us:
- The Israelites were not restored from their captivity all at once. A few returned with Zerubbabel, some more with Ezra and Nehemiah; but a great number still remained in Babylonia, Media, Assyria, etc.; and therefore the Psalmist prays for a complete restoration. "Turn us again,ª° O God,ª and cause thy faceª to shine;ª° and we shall be saved.ª°" {Psa 80:3} + "Turn us again,ª° O Godª of hosts,ª and cause thy faceª to shine;ª° and we shall be saved.ª°" {Psa 80:7} + "Turn us again,ª° O LORDª Godª of hosts,ª cause thy faceª to shine;ª° and we shall be saved.ª°" {Psa 80:19} + "I have surely²° heardª° Ephraimª bemoaning²° himself¹ [thus]; Thou hast chastisedª° me, and I was chastised,ª° as a bullockª unaccustomedªª° [to the yoke]: turnª° thou me, and I shall be turned;ª° for¹ thou¹ [art] the LORDª my God.ª" {Jer 31:18} + "Turnª° thou us unto¹ thee, O LORD,ª and we shall be turned;ª° renewª° our daysª as of old.ª" {Lam 5:21} + "And he shall turnª° the heartª of the fathersª to¹ the children,ª and the heartª of the childrenª to¹ their fathers,ª lest¹ I comeª° and smiteª°¹ the earthª with a curse.ª" {Mal 4:6}
