- girdeth:
- The girdle was a necessary part of the eastern dress: It strengthened and supported the loins; served to confine the garments close to the body; and to tuck them in when journeying. The strength of God was to his soul what the girdle was to his body. "The LORDª [is] my strengthª and my shield;ª my heartª trustedª° in him, and I am helped:ª° therefore my heartª greatly rejoiceth;ª° and with my songª¹ will I praiseª° him." {Psa 28:7} + "I will sayª° of the LORD,ª [He is] my refugeª and my fortress:ª my God;ª in him will I trust.ª°" {Psa 91:2} + "The LORDª reigneth,ª° he is clothedª° with majesty;ª the LORDª is clothedª° with strength,ª [wherewith] he hath girded²° himself:¹ the worldª also¹ is stablished,ª° that it cannot¹ be moved.ª°" {Psa 93:1} + "I¹ [am] the LORD,ª and [there is] none¹ else,¹ [there is] no¹ Godª besideª me: I girdedª° thee, though thou hast not¹ knownª° me:" {Isa 45:5} + "Notª thatª we areª° sufficientª ofª ourselvesª to thinkª° any thingª asª ofª ourselves;ª butª ourª sufficiencyª [is] ofª God;ª" {2Co 3:5}
