shall come:
Herodotus informs us, that ever since the reign of Deioces, king of Media, for the security of the king's person, it was enacted that no one should be admitted into his presence; but that if any one had business with him, he should transact it through the medium of his ministers.

the inner court:
"Now it came to pass¹ on the thirdª day,ª that Estherª put onª ° [her] royalª [apparel], and stoodª ° in the innerª courtª of the king'sª house,ª over againstª the king'sª house:ª and the kingª satª ° upon¹ his royalª throneª in the royalª house,ª over againstª the gateª of the house.ª" {Est 5:1}

one law:
"But¹ ifª ye will notª make knownª ° unto me the dream,ª [there is but] oneª ² decreeª for you: for ye have preparedª ° lyingª and corruptª ° wordsª to speakª ° beforeª me, tillª ¹ the timeª be changed:ª ° thereforeª tellª ° me the dream,ª and I shall knowª ° thatª ye can shewª ° me the interpretationª thereof." {Dan 2:9}

the king shall:
"And it was¹ so, when the kingª sawª °¹ Estherª the queenª standingª ° in the court,ª [that] she obtainedª ° favourª in his sight:ª and the kingª held outª ° to Estherª ¹ the goldenª sceptreª that¹ [was] in his hand.ª So Estherª drew near,ª ° and touchedª ° the topª of the sceptre.ª" {Est 5:2} + "Then the kingª held outª °¹ the goldenª sceptreª toward Esther.ª So Estherª arose,ª ° and stoodª ° beforeª the king,ª" {Est 8:4}

the golden sceptre:
That the kings of Persia carried a golden sceptre, we have the following proof in Xenophon: Οτι ου τοδε το χρυσουν σκηπτρον το μην βασιλειαν διασωζον εστιν, αλλ οι πιστοι φιλοι σκηπτρον βασιλευσιν αληθεστατον και ασφαλεστατον. "It is not (said Cyrus to his son Cambyses) the golden sceptre that saves the kingdom; but faithful friends are the truest and best sceptre of the kingdom."

but I:
"If¹ it pleaseª °¹ the king,ª let there goª ° a royalª commandmentª from¹ ¹ him,² and let it be writtenª ° among the lawsª of the Persiansª and the Medes,ª that it be not¹ altered,ª ° That¹ Vashtiª comeª ° no¹ more beforeª kingª Ahasuerus;ª and let the kingª giveª ° her royal estateª unto anotherª that is betterª than¹ she." {Est 1:19} + "In the eveningª she¹ went,ª ° and on the morrowª she¹ returnedª ° into¹ the secondª houseª of the women,ª to¹ the custodyª of Shaashgaz,ª the king'sª chamberlain,ª which keptª ° the concubines:ª she came inª ° unto¹ the kingª no¹ more,¹ except¹ ¹ the kingª delightedª ° in her, and that she were calledª ° by name.ª" {Est 2:14} + "Likewise,ª ye husbands,ª dwell withª ° [them] according¹ to² knowledge,ª givingª ° honourª unto the¹ wife,ª asª unto the weakerª vessel,ª andª asª being heirs togetherª of the graceª of life;ª that² yourª prayersª be² ° notª hindered.ª °" {1Pe 3:7}
