- Jedaiah:
- One of Dr. Kennicott's manuscripts omits, בן [Strong's H1121], ben, "son of," and reads "Jedaiah, Joiarib, Jachin," which is nearly that of the parallel place. Joiarib, יויריב [Strong's H3114], is merely a contracted form of יהויריב [Strong's H3080], Jehoiarib, by the elision of ה, hay. "The priests:ª the childrenª of Jedaiah,ª of the houseª of Jeshua,ª nineª hundredª seventyª and three.ª" {Neh 7:39} + "And of Joiarib,ª Mattenai;ª of Jedaiah,ª Uzzi;ª" {Neh 12:19} + "And of¹ the priests;ª Jedaiah,ª and Jehoiarib,ª and Jachin,ª" {1Ch 9:10}, Jehoiarib, "The priests:ª the childrenª of Jedaiah,ª of the houseª of Jeshua,ª nineª hundredª seventyª and three.ª" {Ezr 2:36} + "Then sentª° I for Eliezer,ª for Ariel,ª for Shemaiah,ª and for Elnathan,ª and for Jarib,ª and for Elnathan,ª and for Nathan,ª and for Zechariah,ª and for Meshullam,ª chief men;ª also for Joiarib,ª and for Elnathan,ª men of understanding.ª°" {Ezr 8:16}
