{Nehemiah 11:3} Now these x428 [are] the chief 7218 of the province 4082 that x834 dwelt 3427 z8804 in Jerusalem: 3389 but in the cities 5892 of Judah 3063 dwelt 3427 z8804 every one 376 in his possession 272 in their cities, 5892 [to wit], Israel, 3478 the priests, 3548 and the Levites, 3881 and the Nethinims, 5411 and the children 1121 of Solomon's 8010 servants. 5650

Now:
There is a good deal of difference between this enumeration and that in Chronicles; as this comprehends not only those who came first with Zerubbabel, but also those who came with Ezra and Nehemiah. See note on "Who hitherto¹ ¹ [waited] in the king'sª gateª eastward:ª they¹ [were] portersª in the companiesª of the childrenª of Levi.ª" {1Ch 9:18}.

the chief:
"These¹ [are] the childrenª of the province,ª that went upª ° out of the captivity,ª ¹ of those that had been carried away,ª whom¹ Nebuchadnezzarª the kingª of Babylonª had carried away,ª ° and came againª ° to Jerusalemª and to Judah,ª every oneª unto his city;ª" {Neh 7:6} + "Now these¹ [are] the childrenª of the provinceª that went upª ° out of the captivity,ª ¹ of those which had been carried away,ª whom¹ Nebuchadnezzarª the kingª of Babylonª had carried awayª ° unto Babylon,ª and came againª ° unto Jerusalemª and Judah,ª every oneª unto his city;ª" {Ezr 2:1}

Israel:
"So the priests,ª and the Levites,ª and the porters,ª and the singers,ª ° and [some] of¹ the people,ª and the Nethinims,ª and all¹ Israel,ª dweltª ° in their cities;ª and when the seventhª monthª came,ª ° the childrenª of Israelª [were] in their cities.ª" {Neh 7:73} + "So all¹ Israelª were reckoned by genealogies;ª ° and, behold,¹ they [were] writtenª ° in¹ the bookª of the kingsª of Israelª and Judah,ª [who] were carried awayª ° to Babylonª for their transgression.ª ...
